This is not a single player campaign. (At least it's free)
I was looking forward to a good old school single player campaign. This ain't it. You can absolutely play it solo, but the entire thing was designed around team play. To sum it up, its unplayable solo. You will die. A lot. With no team mates to revive you it counts as a "Squad wipe" and you have to start the mission back from step one, There are no check points. There's no difficulty selection. Hell, it doesn't even scale the difficulty based on how many guys are in your team. There's no AI team mates, the game expects you to play with other clients be it friends, or rando's. Maybe it's just not my cup of tea, but I was really looking forward to this as a guy who played the original BHD campaign as a kid, and sadly was let down.

Now I'm not one to just crap on something without offering solutions.

1) Add a difficulty selection, or at the very least scale the difficulty to the number of people in the team.

2) Add checkpoints.

3) add places or times to refill bandages and ammo. (that might already exist, but I haven't been able to make it far enough to find it, and at this point am to frustrated to care to.)

4) Add AI teammates to replace roles in the team not filled by clients. (Obviously this is the biggest ask. I'd understand this not being an option if the first 3 options are.)

5) Optimization. Lots of frame dips. I'm not on the bleeding edge, but a 3080TI and Ryzen 5900x shouldn't be dipping to sub 10 frames in a SP campaign. Oh yeah, wait, this isn't a single player campaign lol

At least it's free.

Ofc It's playable solo, just buy hands.
to be fair, They always market this as a campaign. Not a single player campaign

most standard FPS campaigns are typically single player, its kind of implied.

+1 AI teammates

We probably wouldn't need to resupply if AI teammates are watching our backs and helping out a bit.

Some basic commands like the original game would be nice. I loved telling the AI to hold position and using them as a support element suppressing the enemy while I flanked.

Players should be able to join mid-game.

A lot of what you're asking for seems to be borne out of frustration

1. Add difficulty selection

It's not difficult, but it would be good to have higher difficulties where there are more enemies.

2. Add Checkpoints

You don't need checkpoints. They're all really short maps besides the last 2, and those don't need checkpoints

3. Ammo and Bandage pickups

It's designed around it being attritional. Soldiers can give one another ammo or bandages

AI teammates

If this is necessary in order to get people to join mid game, then yes. But otherwise if it's a lot of work it's really not going to improve it much.

ya I was hoping it was going to be a single-player campaign too.

No, they advertised this as a remake of the Black Hawk Down single player campaign. It was supposed to be a paid singleplayer add on. The fact it was released as a coop only ftp campaign is BS.

Some of the design choices are very puzzling here. They could have easily included different difficulties and made the default mode with limited ammo and no checkpoints the hardest mode.

I don’t understand why devs don’t just do multiple difficulties to satisfy as many people as possible.

1. Difficulty is subjective, what you find easy other may find difficult, and what others find easy you may find boring. Adding a difficulty selection opens the campaign up to a larger range of customers.

2. Having checkpoints is an industry standard. Having to skip through the beginning cut scene of the mission if you die on the final objective is just a lazy way of increasing playtime disguised behind "being difficult".

3. My entire post is about this not being single player friendly. you cannot receive bandages and ammo from players that are not there.

4. A lot of work? this dev is a direct subsidiary of Tencent. Money is toilet paper. Indie games on 0 budget can manage AI squadmates. I don't care if it's "a lot of work".
