There's like a handful of people even playing this expansion at any given time so I'm basically unable to progress because doing the missions solo isn't worth the difficulty.
I appreciate that it's slower-paced, co-op and leaning a bit more into the hardcore side, but it's rough. And it really should be playable solo.
It's also full of bugs, for example, you can reach areas you shouldn't via reviving people. If you quickly aim the mounted weapons (M2 on humvee or M134 on a black hawk) your camera will start to tilt and remain that way.
You can get your camera upside-down during the humvee convoy mission, how that went through QA is beyond me.
I know its his opinion and all but saying the M16 doesnt hit hard or the circa 90s equipment jab IS JUST ODD AS ALL GET OUT. Like i dont know what he was expecting lol
Not to mentions No single player, no AI teammates, always online, not a remake, or even a hint of the OG game campaign—pretty much a Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down amusement park ride. uninstalled it already.
There actually is. Play as support and you'll spawn in with 600 rounds. There's no reason to play other classes in the solo mode, as you can take in a Car-15 which is more than enough. Use single shot mode, don't fire in automatic. There's NO point to having automatic fire on.
Slice the pie at each doorway, and use cover intelligently. Go slow unless you absolutely HAVE to get out of an area as quickly as possible. Then, move a LITTLE faster, but don't try to dive through every doorway you see.
It's very possible, but it's certainly a challenge.
The AI's accuracy increases the more you have of your body visible. I can clear most of the first mission without taking rounds at all in solo mode, and in co-op you have access to unlimited healing and ammo if the team is working properly.
It's just a matter of actually working through slowly, steadily, and using the correct tactics for the situation. If there's an RPG, you'll know WELL before you're in range to be hit. Follow the smoke trail and move between explosions to counter-fire them.
Again, it's absolutely playable solo. But the online aspect is just baked in because that's how they get you the rewards you unlock from campaign. Also, there's a reason you can't pick up guns from the insurgents. It's the same reason the Army straight up FORBIDS doing so.
You don't know the quality, safety, or reliability of that weapon.
You don't have the time, equipment, or knowhow on how to disassemble and repair the gun on the fly just to make sure it's in working condition. It could blow up in your face, it could misfire and double-load a round, and you'll be missing your hands for the rest of your life.
That's why you don't see real soldiers (only movie recreations) diving out of cover to go grab some rusted up AK with 5 rounds left in it just to "Save ammo."
It's not worth the risk. It's pretty realistic in that manner.
As stated above, you have enough ammo to solo. It's very doable. Is it hard? Yes. But it's doable, and that's why they have rewards FOR doing it solo.
