Is the anti-cheat really just spyware?
I heard rumors that the anti-cheat is just a trojan horse for spyware. I'm afraid to play the game if it really is spyware. The game does look fun, but I question its software.

Please explain to me how this is or isn't spyware.

It's kernel-level, just like Battlefield, Apex Legends, PUBG, Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege, Valorant, League of Legends etc. But people will complain about this one while ignoring the rest because they're paranoid about muh China

ACE is developed by Tencent
Tencent is a chinese company, the program is always running in the background even when you uninstall.
It's clearly spyware, but not a trojan.

I own games that make Tencent money, I'm already far too deep into it. But I would rather avoid a program developed directly from Tencent

You should worry more about your own government getting your data than a Chinese hypothetical. It can easily collude with its megacorporations like Google and Microsoft, force them if need be, to take your information. Those megacorps having all one's data is bad enough though...

My information is already out there all over china and most likely even in my own government. I just care more about the performance of my hardware and dont want spyware active in the background

Even if we all played the beta does this mean our pc are bugged? I'm not paranoid or worried...I'm just trying to know more.

And what is wrong with that? China has some bad privacy practices when it comes to their internet uses. They have the worst privacy in the whole world. Why wouldn't people complain? Of course people are going to complain.
China is pretty secretive when it comes to stuff like this. They're not as open and transparent as the rest of the world. So if people complain about it because it's supposedly Chinese, than by all means, I do not blame them.

I'd rather have my own government getting my data than some other government in some faraway land, in which neither me nor my own government has the ability to control over.

"They're not as open and transparent as the rest of the world." You think the US is transparent about privacy (or rather the lack thereof)...? Have you been living under a rock the past few decades? In any case, how would a Chinese megacorporation/government use your data against you, like your own could? The important difference between American and Chinese privacy is that you live under the former, so it should be of greater concern...

Oh you want to know the difference?
The difference is that the Americans tell you they're spying on you. The Chinese don't.

Lol how would they use my data against? Easy. They work with the Chinese military and cyber divisions. Infomation is everything in the modern world.

ACE isn't a spyware. Windows Defender may report this as spyware. You know, ACE has supported CrossFire and other FPS games for nearly 10 years+. China players know it, even if it is detected as spyware, we believe in Tencent more than Microsoft. But from the view of developers, ACE may uses some technology, and then detected as a spyware. I may encounter this one or more time, but I add it as trusted software... Ignore the warning and rumor

so many games are protected by ACE, the link may be deleted or hidden, {LINK REMOVED} , you can search Tencent AntiCheatExpert and check their introduction.

Well just Tencent being involved in this is a read flag alone. That may just be enough for me to avoid this game altogether.
