They don't even do THAT much dmg IF they hit (a good pilot can pretty easily avoid or kill them), but, atleast they are a tiny bit better than stingers that take ages to lock, fly slowly, barely track and are broken by a very short cooldown on glares and the dumbest addition to any game a vehicle repair skill so they never really even need to fall back to base, plus regenerating ammo!
I miss the old says, where air craft could dominate in games, but had the limitation of NEEDING to land to repair or re-arm so they were not omnipresent killing machines ruining the fame for everyone else with no real counter.
Buff AA, nerf aircraft.
Flares recharge really fast and missiles are easy to dodge.
The only real risk to aircraft is the LAV-AA gun, but that, like the stationary AA guns is easily countered by armour, or infantry, meanwhile the chopper can just fly up out of range of any of those counters.
Aircraft are over powered, hopefully ulurus launcher can bring them down in 1 shot without giving them 20 seconds of warning.
If you don't have a full squad trying to take down 1 chopper nearly non stop the chopper has free reign, it should not require a big dedicated group to counter 1 player, when that 1 player still has a good chance to escape!
The thing about the AA guns is they're largely useless on a map like Cracked. Doesn't matter if the range is infinite. The lead is insane, the damage is mid, the cooldown is too high to often kill before overheating, and the pilot can put buildings between you and them in that time. Waiting to regenerate vehicle health for as long as it takes. Only thing that can stop a good pilot is the LAAV's 20mm/30mm bullet shooter. Lock-on is useless against good pilots. You still have to lead your shots with the bullet hose, but the pilot simply can't play the game so long as you're harassing them well enough with it.
It made vehicles far more strategic and balanced, the way they are now, the games favour those who jump in a vehicles gun far higher than the rest of the team.
Heck, even being a gunner is pretty much worthless as you only get xp if you kill with your pea shooter.
I spent a whole map as a gunner on a tank, defending it and repairing, it was the lowest xp game I've had (like 4k xp lol), meanwhile the driver racked up over 20k xp because I kept stuff off of him and jumped out to repair.
Vehicles need tweaking as does the tools to kill them.
Helicopters outrange AA guns.
