Operations - do I understand this correctly?

It seems like, I wanted to ask here if its correct. One can just take cheap loadout, camp prone on initial spawn, and then wait at extractor point for 20 minutes and when enemy team comes you just kill them when they plan on extracting? Does it work like that or no?

Ok but I am curious when map loads, does every team has same extraction routes or no?

no extraction points will be available on the opposite side of the map from your spawn except on space city and brakkesh

Ok, but for example, if I spawn in barracks, then someone who is on opposite side, will have extraction on my location aka barracks?

If yes, I can sit down, prone in a corner and wait one of the teams to come to me?

there are 2 sets of extractionpoints for the first 2 maps. If you spawn on the left side of the map you get the set on the right and its the otherway if you spawn on the right.

Most spawns arent close to extractionpoints and even if you are close, other spawns will be close too. And since people have more than one extractionpoint, chances are that you never see an enemy player when you try to extraction camp.

oh and because no one else mentioned it i will it would make you a dirty little rat :) as a side note i think i saw some sort of bright red sweet smelling pellets over there if you're interested?

in theory yes, but there are operators with detection abilities and most people do a quick scan before going for the extract. So more likely than not, you're going to get highlighted bright red by a detection arrow and gunned the F down like you deserve :) You might get lucky and take out a solo, or an unprepared team but it won't happen as often as you think. And if waiting 20 to 30 minutes for a failed ambush is your idea of fun.... you do you I guess.

Not to mention that there is a possibility that no one wants to extract on your exact point because several extraction alternatives are always available so one could spend half an hour laying in the ambush for nothing.

Because of this and all the things that people above mentioned it's not surprising that the actual exfil campers are extremely rare. For example i haven't seen a single instance of such behavior in hundreds of hours of gameplay.
