Its easier to get more points in KofH gamemode then A/D unless you are the guy with 50+ kills every match.
So no matter if you win or lose, nor if you joined mid fight.
It is how much you're contributing to the team.
How is that?
-Ressing people, specially high scoring people like the leaders, gives you extra ressing points.
-Capturing points, they give out the most points;
-Killing people by a range of 30m + with headshot;
-Resuppying people give cumulative points;
-Use your points for barrage and smokes and most important, the guided missile, it often turns the tide of the battle.
So in all you're measured on how the team is benefiting from your performance.
If you want to stay very far sniping people and not really doing anything in the front, you will heave the least points. Unless you never miss any shot and snipe the hell out of many, many people then you might get a high score.
I have like almost over 50h of gameplay and in the beggining i was confused by this system too. Now it makes a lot of sense. I've been top score player in many matches by just ressing people and almost no kills.
And many do, but keep in mind that most people have either merit points disabled or their skill keeps them on lowest 2 ranks where score/min is required much less, like 300-500/min.
short matches
bad performance.
Being short matches like when you get hard stomped or you crush really fast the opponent and it last like 9mins or less.
There is a penalty that applies to "short duration match" and it can be very detritive.
A good "lasting match" should be around 20min+
