What's the point of keycards

I have had a few keycards now, one of which was 800K for Lab conference room but I cant for the life of me see what the point of them is. I never seem to get anything good above what I can randomly find in places. I have some accommodation room ones in the dam, the equipment room in the dam, one of the gold rooms in the DAM which to be fair seem to at least have ok loot. I get it cant be mega loot all teh time but some of tehse locations had given me any useful loot.I am about 12 uses left of the lab conference room in L grove but never had anything any good and it cost me 800K
