Am i misunderstanding something here?
I've noticed that there's a new Hackclaw skin and i like it. Sure enough i could pay some money as a token of support in purely transactional matter for hours i've put in so far for free.

But then it dawned on me that you cannot buy it directly and it's organized as "semi generous" gacha that's extremely predatory.

Equalizing 100 coins needed for 1 ticket to roughly 2 dollars first pull is nearly free but the skin has 1.2% chance to roll so good luck with that.
The kicker comes with the fact that each consecutive pull increases the price, roughly going
6, 10, 20, 30, 40, 55 and finally 62 dollars for the last pull.

If it was 62 dollars for the skin, whatever - whale economy but it doesn't work like that, that's the price of the final pull you'll likely arrive at having failed to roll the 1.2% chance 7 times in a row. So to get the skin at the worst (and quite likely) scenario, you need to pay 225 dollars.

The worst part of it, is that it is a clear dark pattern - giving people first 2 rolls that are universally affordable for most players to then ramp up the costs exponentially, hoping to lock them in "i've already paid for the currency and got nothing of value out of it so i might as well go all in".

Lmao.

I surely must be misunderstanding something, it can't be that predatory? Or does the game expect to operate solely on whale and twitch streamer income.

I think the way you just described it is exactly how it's meant to work. I actually find this mechanic to be a total rip-off. I’ve topped up my coins twice as a test and have already spent €30, only to get 4 items: no skin, just a profile picture, an animation, some voice lines, and, oh yeah, the frequently used graffiti.

I would have gladly bought the skin, but at this point, it’s a no-go for me. In my opinion, this is just plain cheeky.
Totally agreed on all points. It's a scummy tactic. I did the same where I wanted a skin and thought I just needed to buy it. Only to find out what I paid for was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slot machine roll.

No thanks and I shortly uninstalled too. Scummy tactics like this mean the devs dont care about their player base.
RNG is RNG, spent about 150 on Hackclaw, and about 100 on subrosa, chance of getting it at super cheap is super slim but you're able to see the % and atleast here you know you'll get it eventually it's not like RNG box where you can spend 1000's and still not get it.
Ye is total a scum, spent 100 and more euros for a skin is really a bad move.....

You spent already 150 on a darn virtual skin and you go on to spend another 100? (Or the other way around) ??? Are you sure you should be allowed to use a computer and a credit card?

People are allowed to do whatever they want with their money. Many people have disposable income and have their life neatly situated.

Oh yeah, they're outright stupid as ♥♥♥♥ when spending a crapton of money on a single item. That being said, they're allowed to do whatever they want to with their money lol.
Yup. $200 for a skin, some voice files, spray and xp tokens......
yeah it's unfortunate because I was going to put money into the premium but noticed you can't do it through steam so no go.

The event to get this skin is available until July. Every time you win something, it is removed from the prize pool, so the next time the chance is higher. By getting delta tickets from season pass and from selling mandelbricks, there's an easy (although grinding) way of getting the skin without spending $200. The $200 is if you want it NOW and there will always be people who pay this kind of money.
