Level Infinite Pass requirement, Things We Should Know.
I found it unsurprising to receive negative responses to a post I made recently regarding the immediate removal of Delta Force when I noticed the mandatory LI Pass requirement. Has anyone who attacked me for that post researched LI Pass?

Level Infinite Pass (LI Pass) is a subsidiary of Tencent, a Chinese company with direct and publicly acknowledged government ties. Many have people worried about TikTok, yet its content management is America-based. TikTok is actually banned on mainland China. Tencent is a greater security and influence threat. A few examples of controversies and actions include:

1) The Chinese government views Tencent as one of its national champion corporations.
2) In August 2019, it was reported that Tencent collaborated with the propaganda department of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the People's Daily to develop "patriotic games" and a positive-China message around the world.
3) In a December 2020 article in Foreign Policy, a former senior official of the CIA concluded that Tencent received funding from the Ministry of State Security early on in its foundation. This was said to be a "seed investment" that was provided "when they were trying to build out the Great Firewall and the monitoring technology." Tencent denied this allegation.
4) In 2021, it was reported that Tencent and Ant Group were working with the People's Bank of China to develop a Central bank digital currency.
5) In June 2022, Tencent partnered with Shanghai United Media Group to launch a plan to develop domestic and foreign influencers.
6) In 2015, security testing firms AV-Comparatives, AV-TEST and Virus Bulletin jointly decided to remove Tencent from their software whitelists. The products supplied for testing were found to contain optimizations that made the software appear less exploitable when benchmarked but actually provided greater scope for delivering exploits.
7) in October 2019, Tencent announced it would stop broadcasting Houston Rockets NBA games in China due to a tweet made by Daryl Morey, general manager of the Rockets, that was supportive of the protesters in the 2019–2020 Hong Kong protests.
8) February 2021, An executive at Chinese tech giant Tencent was arrested on suspicion of sharing personal data from the WeChat social media app with an official. Zhang Feng may have passed information to a vice public security minister Sun Lijun. Sun was being investigated by Beijing for undisclosed violations of Communist Party rules, a euphemism for corruption.

Does anyone remember this from 2021:

Tencent's WeChat’ app was found to background scan for new photos, even when the app was off. It would run every few hours for up to i minute each cycle, and was found using Apple’s “Record App Activity” feature. The behavior was originally publicized by a tech influencer who goes by the name Hackl0us on the microblogging platform Weibo

Multiple lawsuits against Tencent, including:

a) Tencent's WeChat platform has been accused of blocking TikTok videos and the censorship of politically sensitive content. In April 2018, TikTok sued Tencent and accused it of spreading false and damaging information on its WeChat platform.
b) In January 2021, a proposed class action lawsuit was filed in California against Tencent, alleging user censorship and surveillance via WeChat.
c) In November 2022, Sustainalytics downgraded Tencent to "non-compliant" with the United Nations Global Compact principles due to complicity with censorship.
d) In December 2024, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that Tencent had removed two directors from Epic Games' board of directors and relinquished its unilateral right to appoint directors or observers to Epic's board. This action followed concerns that interlocking directorates between the Epic and Tencent boards violated U.S. antitrust law under Section 8 of the Clayton Act.

So, being forced to install LI Pass, a subsidiary of Tencent, with this incomplete list of actions and security issues, should be considered a serious problem. What are the ethics of a game developer who partners with this company, considering its history? There is NO VALUABLE PURPOSE for this mandatory acceptance of a 3rd party product to play a video game. What convinced these developers?

PUBG was forced to drop LI Pass (Tencent) in India due to the national ban on Chinese apps. TikTok is also banned in India. If the United States wants to ban TikTok, they should take a much closer look at the many tentacles linked to Tencent.

Stay Safe, boys and girls. I personally trust TikTok more than Tencent!

I personally trust Chinese companies more than yank ones.
I fear more about the kernel app using my computer resource when i'm offline of DF. Killing my graphic performance when i'm playing other games.

For our data, google and microsoft are already selling them.

Windows is a software developed by Microsoft, a US company with direct and publicly acknowledged government ties. Microsoft is a greater security and influence threat than any game or other software installed on Windows later.

"1) The Chinese government views Tencent as one of its national champion corporations."

US government views Microsoft as one of its national champion corporations.

So being forced to install Windows to play games with "telemetry" that can not be disabled and corporation having contracts with US government should be considered a serious security risk. What are the ethics of a game developer who makes his games compatible with only Windows and not compatible with Linux? And those are the majority of devs making AAA games.

In essence, boys & girls do not trust either. US, China & India all pursue their own interest via all available means. If you use Windows for anything except games, you are most probably under surveillance of US government, and they will have access to all your information. OP just want only _them_ have access, not others. Which is understandable because he is, most probably, an american.

I, personally, use Windows only for games. If US or Chinese governments want to know my gaming habits - I'm ok with that.
