Controller Support - A Call To Arms!
Do you own a controller that isn't detected by the current version of Shovel Knight? If so you can go to the following pages to help us, yourself, and countless players who follow after you!

Controller Support![yachtclubgames.com]

We cannot add new controllers that we do not physically have in our hands here. There's a lot of input devices out there in the world, so we appreciate each and every submission!

If you're still having troubles(or we haven’t updated the game to support your controller yet) you can beat us to it by doing the following:
  1. Open Steam, go into Big Picture Mode
  2. Open Settings
  3. Configure your controller bindings
  4. Boot up Shovel Knight!

I use Xbox 360 USB.
i didnt know you could bind a controller in steam huh
Can't set the settings properly for my XBOX 360 Controller. If I hit "A", it always pauses my game, even if it is set on "Jump".
This does not work with simple d-pad/buttons gamepads, steam requires two analogue sticks and does not allow you to save gamepad bindings without it.

Maybe add simple gamepad configuration dialog as fallback? Thanks for the great game though :)

My gamepad is:
Bus 007 Device 013: ID 07b5:0213 Mega World International, Ltd Thrustmaster Firestorm Digital 3 Gamepad

VERY impressed when I plugged in my PS2 controller and tried playing.

It had the DualShock icons AND was already set up without me needing to emulate it as a 360 controller!

WHY THE ♥♥♥♥ DON'T GAMES ON PC DO THIS THESE DAYS!?
^
I know, right.
I'm using a Tomee USB NES controller. It works great (for what it is) except Button 8 - the "Select button" on the controller won't bind in-game, but it registers once I exit the game. Frustrating.

Well I've figured it out; go to the Guides section for Shovel Knight and there's a tutorial on how to set up an SNES controller using a plugin called JoyToKey. Now my controller works great.
I'm using a gamecube controller for linux but steam doesn't detect it.

Steam can detect my xbox360 controller.

My gamecube controller works with most of my older games.

Is there anything I can do to get it supported in shovel knight? (without using joy2key programs)

Edit: it's working now. I just had wrong permission to /dev/input/event*

I own the Mayflash Wii U Pro Controller Adapter. Yes, I am double dipping.
I have this mayflash arcade stick

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arcade-Fighting-Stick-PC-USB/dp/B006PR8A8Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8

Works in pretty much any other game i have, but not in Shovel Knight. I even tried emulation and it still doesn't work.
I have a small problem: I'm using the ds3 with motionjoy and the pads works fine, but here a few buttons are switched.

if I press triangle, the game things I'm pressing square.
some with the start button.
game things that is the R3 button.

pad works fine in other games.
I don't think the Mad Catz Street Fighter 4 Arcade Pads for Xbox 360 work right. I can never seem to get it to work with the program. At first I thought it was because I plugged the controller into my laptop after Steam was running. Then I tried closing and restarting Steam and it didn't work. And recently I plugged my controller in prior to starting up the computer. The controller works fine with anything else, but not with Shovel Knight.
I'm using an original NES controller with this USB adapter: Tomee NES to PC USB Retro Controller Adapter Converter (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HM3QCN2)
I submitted this using the form, but also posting here in case the description gets lost or I didn't enter it correctly (not sure if I was supposed to enter a description on the official form)...

"SDL_GamepadBind" "571d2100000000000000504944564944,NES,a:b0,b:b1,y:b3,x:b2,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,"

Steam forces you to map the A, B, X, Y and left stick x and y axes, which is just enough buttons to match the NES controller... so I have mapped A to A, B to B, Start to Y, and Select to X. The y axis is mapped to up (down produces the same result of "a0", I guess for axis 0) and the x axis is mapped to right (again, left produces the same result of "a1").
