Recommended Game Controller for Mac?

I'm getting a Macbook next week or two, and I want to know which game controller works with Shovel Knight or best with Mac games on Steam. I already researched and I'm quite disappointed from what I found, so this is why I came here to ask of this community to see I can play games, including this game, with a game controller. Price isn't a factor here, and I want 100% chance that it works.

That's a guarantee no one here can give you. Different controllers work differently on different system and have different issues with different games.

I'm no Mac user - but I'm sure there are tools available to make use of most generic USB devices, but there are gamepads that are made specifically for Mac use. Have a look online or ask your go-to vendor.

If, for some reason, this game doesn't detect your controller, be sure to let the devs know. Visit this stickied thread for information on how to do that.

If the controller doesn't work at all with your machine - demand a refund from your vendor.

*It is of course a good idea to ask the community about compatible controllers.

Yes that is why I'm trying to gather information and get recommendations before I go out and buy controllers.

Does anyone know if Shovel Knight supports DirectInput, since it seems to me what I've gathered from reading from various websites that the PS4 DualShock is among the easiest to configure, wirelessly and wired. However, most games have XInput, which a lot of controller support, but it requires third party software and configuration. Thanks!

We use SDL for input (the same library Steam uses), which supports both DirectInput and XInput, hopefully you can use the controller of your choice!
