Please explain this game to me
I looked up on the dev's website and saw that the trove includes all games / campaigns.

However, looking at the trailers, I can't figure out how this works.

Are Plague / Specter / King completely new levels and campaigns? Do they reuse just SOME levels from the original SK game? Is the focus just the new playable chars and abilities / playstyles, while the locations stay mostly the same?

This whole thing is SOOO confusing...

Shovel Knight and Plague Knight have the same levels, but the others have their own.

That's good to know. Looking at the trailers for both Specter and King of Cards, I got the impression that there were reused areas and chunks of levels in those games from the original.

Thanks for the clarification!

Plague Knight's does add some extra areas to the levels(destructible walls that lead to new sections that don't exist in the original Shovel of Hope levels).

What's that, then?

Seeing things like that makes me question how the games are organized and structured at all and how much asset, enemy and level reuse there is across all of them.

Guess I'll just buy Shovel of Hope and call it a day...

If you want to know main story and play in fully original levels, choose Shovel of Hope. Treasure Trove is 5 campaigns in one, 4 of them have unigue Knight with unusial story and mechanics, (3 Knights as Dlc) and 1 last campaign for those who loves battling. It's obvious what all 4 Knight will have the same rooms, same bosses with a little new ones, but the main thing in TT is their story. :shovelknight::plagueknight::specterk::kingknight:

Thanks for the clarification. I am really not too big on the "story" aspect of that sort of game. I can appreciate that they took the time to put that in, but I'm more about different levels and action set pieces, and if the games repeat or reuse a lot of those, I'll just get Shovel of Hope and call it a day.

The Trove is a bit too steeply priced for a game of this sort.

It is not so confusing, Shovel knight is the standard but Plague of shadows is basically the "Ricther Mode" of it, since it is played in the same levels, but the story is different, Specter of Torment and King of Cards are completely different games, levels, bosses, ost, etc. And in general to the structure of the game.

I recommend you play in the order in which they were released, (Shovel of Hope, Plague of Shadows, Specter of torment and King of cards) because SOH being the first is the most basic of all, but even so it is still very good, Those that follow get better every time because the team became more experienced over time. Also I feel that the details of the other campaigns are more appreciated if you play SOH first.
