I find keyboard easier because the downward attack is really hard to do and move left/right quickly afterwards. Doing S>D is way quicker than moving a stick from down to right, plus I can press both at the same time.
Well, i use my keyboard to play pretty much everything. From games like Shovel Knight, to even fighting games like Mortal Kombat 11 or Tekken. I can use 3 fingers to control movement. On a controller, i got only my thumb. Its much easier, at least for me, to use keyboard for gaming, you can react to things much faster.
If you got a good keyboard and not just one of those like 15$ ones with the mesh underlay for the buttons, it would be perfectly fine to play that way. (Even then it's probably fine). The only reason i'd say that might be a problem is if you're experiencing lost inputs from certain button combinations, a modern USB 2.0 or higher keyboard probably won't have that problem, but if you think it's happening you should test it out a bit.
I've played several 2d games on a keyboard before going back to DOS Windows 3 and even commodore 64 a little, and it's something you can get used to and still enjoy the game. Still a controller with a good D-pad is hard to argue against is almost always the best way to play these types of games.
I've got a mechanical keyboard which works fine apart from the space bar (seems to double tap randomly), and a 5 year old Xbox 360 controller which somehow survived each Souls game. Stick drift on both sticks and the shoulder buttons have paper wedged in to actually work.
I would love a Wii U Pro controller they look great.
Yeah I'm proud of it. Forgot to mention the cord is almost cut through and it only works when taped at a certain angle. Honestly I think it would survive a nuclear bomb at this point.
