They did fix it a bit with the Eden group, to help newbies get started, but kind of not enough.
But complaining how it isnt a linear themepark wow-like is worth your time?
I remember the beta in 2002 being really better, except it was laggy, wich was obvious to feel on my archer I made back then, but I prefer lag than what it is now.
I understand the tutorial is garbage though and how rough it can be to new players, and even i probably would have some trouble getting back into the game with all the new areas/quest/items/cards they added since i stopped.
I liked it far more before renewal, i don't really think i would have stuck to the game if the update was released when i started, it's actually one of the reason i stopped playing this game to begin with.
But i agree on the first part. The tutorial could have been better. Although it isn't as garbage as it once was. Besides, isn't an MMO a reason to explore? Instead of being held by your hand all the way through?
I want RO to be challenging, not "you successfully talked to an NPC ZOMG! LEVELUP! ITEM!ITEM!ITEM!ITEM!ITEM!"
Go explore, learn by trial & error, meet new friends to play with. Once you got hang of it, come and challenge rest of the player base in War of Emperium where only the best succeed. Then go back to look for rare cards and equipment to challenge them again and evently become equal with them, if you work hard enough that is. Or just keep on exploring the rune midgard, fighting minibosses and MvPs.
Once you get into it, you aint getting out.
Fact
When this Game was Open Beta it was just awesome because u could make Partys and lvl up together with 100000 other Peoples.
i rejoined RO after the release of Ro2 and the Game was so diffrent, everywhere afk Guys with shops , no new Players etc.
It's true that it's stupid to promote a game with 10+ years of online life (because there are a lot of high levels) but IMHO Ragnarok Online is way better than WoW and consort. First because it doesn't hold your hand to tell you where the next quest point is, secondly because quests are irrelevant except in higher levels (it's a korean MMO so mob grinding all the way) and thirdly because each class is unique and you have to fine-tune your stat points to actually create your own unique and viable (or not) build.
And even with high levels, you can still have a looot of fun (and in my case nostalgia) with friends :p
PS: if renewal is not your forte there are tons of .... other means to play without (won't say more heh)
*shrugs*
Give it another go and try to see where the path leads you.
