I need help and tips for leveling and gear

I am new to this game, my brother has played this game in the past ~10 years ago and does not remember everything.

I currently have a lvl 35 thief and have no idea what gear i should farm/buy and where I can lvl.
When iI search for mobs i or 1 shot them or they 1 shot me.
I hope some people could help me find a good spot to farm and what gear I should be looking for where I can get that and maybe do some quests.

Hello. For a monster database you can use www.ratemyserver.net but be sure to use [RENEWAL] searches, as the exp is different from the old ones. Also look for monsters 10 levels above yourself as they give an exp bonus (use the slider in the monster window to see how much).

For a gear/stat build you should use google as I do not know what build you are intending to make. Rule of thumb is as much AGI as possible, decent STR, some INT and if you are making a perfect dodge/ critical hit build you should invest in LUK as well. Look into what the LUK stat does and make your decision from that.

I have a ATM lvl 45 (job lvl 10) Assasin and i hope you can give me some tips about what/were i can get gear/weapons/cards.
I also do not understand a lot of the build and idk what build are meta/ not to old to be good. Thank you for taking your time to help me <3

Stems (north from Geffen) and Poison Spores (east from Stems) make brilliant money for new players. Consider doing the Eden (Gear) quests though if you haven't -- they are great to start with (until 60+ but even after you can use them just fine until you trans, in most cases). As for exp, look at this site: http://www.healplz.com/exp/ (Just keep in mind that the "best" exp on the list isn't always the most effective.)
