will this game ever return to steam

I do not believe we have heard anything about it returning to Steam.

However, the last I checked, you could still download it from the developers' site.

Unless I missed something, you can't get it on the developer's site. Now it's a bit of a mess, but all I'm seeing are a bunch of patches and broken links. It's too bad, because there's a really nice-looking switch version I wouldn't mind trying out, but I doubt it'll ever make it to PC.

As far as I know, Rockin’ Android no longer has the rights to distribute. These rights are on Platine Dispositif themselves, but they don’t seem too enthusiastic into release their games on Steam, instead preferring PS and Switch

Actually, you can still get keys for this game online. I got mine on ♥♥♥ this year lol. I'm just as surprised as you probably are.
