Unable to change character

Is there a way to select which character you will play?
I have been stuck on Peacock for two days now, and have finished all of her unlocks.
Note: have both DLCs installed

On the screen after you select which mode you want to play (Classic/Ultimate/Clue Cards) there is a screen showing all the characters. The one on the left of the screen is the character you will be in the next game. To change it just click on it (you'll see a large rectangle appear over it) and you'll be taken to another screen showing all the characters and their playing piece models. Just click on the one you want to use/be and the character on the left changes to your selection. Click "back" and the character will have changed. You can also add/remove other players. The game does remember the last used settings. Then click "Start Game". I hope this helps.
