Missing some directx files, please force reinstall directx!
I went to play FTD, but i receive this message. I already try to reinstall directx 9 several times. I search for a real solution on the internet, but i didn't find it. I found only to force reinstall directx, but it didn't fix it. I can't play this game anymore. I use win10, i some days ago, i didn't receive this message and i played very well. But i need a more specific help to fix this problem, either i need to do this manually (using another ways). I hope some help to continue play and create new adventures. Thx for now!

This is the link with the screenshot that i did to show the error [clean link]: https://gyazo.com/b8a4c985e9b6ea1bba81ef4ab85b197a

PS: Gyazo is a software to get images from my PC!

*** PLEASE READ - Updated 4th January, 2016***

It seems that NVIDIAs new game sharing feature in GeForce Experience causes some Unity games to fail initialisation of DirectX when starting up.

If you get a message from FTD that the DirectX drivers cannot be found, and that you should re-install DirectX and you are running new NVIDIA drivers that supports the game sharing system, please try disabling "Allow friends to join my game play" in GeForce Experience settings.

This seems to be the most common cause that players are reporting here.

Thanks.

I did lot of things. I update geforce experience and the driver from my nvidia VGA. I don't know what can do about it. i really need a help. I try to delete the game and download again, i did not resolve. I install lot of games every day, i can't find what game affected FTD. I have around lot of games installed on my steam (really lot of)! What can i do about this problem? I don't know how to begin to fix it! Thx!

Neither do we to be honest. If it went from working to not working, then it's a system level issue that is preventing it from running.

Without having access to your machine, I'm not sure what we can do to help. If you've changed so much on your machine, then it could be anything that is preventing it from running now.

Can you post a screenshot of the list of all of the xinput*.dll files in your System folder?

I have this bug as well having not played for months. Obviously different things require different drivers but I play a ton of games of varying tech levels and different engines and nothing else is unhappy with my DirectX installation.

I have now:

Manually reinstalled directX 11.1
Verified game cache
Deleted local files and re-installed Fight The Dragon

None of these have helped.

All Windows 10 users?

Microsoft is well-known to fcuk things up on patchdays for years, that is why they decided to ship updates by default is the best idea ever.

I am on windows 7 and am now having this issue. No idea why this hass happened.

It sounds like something else that's been installed since FTD has altered the Xinput files on Windows and it's effecting FTD.

We are looking into this, but currently have no specific place to look as it could be one of a million things.

Ultimately we'd love to remove the dependency on requiring a specific Xinput DLL for FTD to run, but right now there is no alternate solution for us :(

We are on it though...

I'm on windows 10 and haven't changed any of my drivers. Downloaded FTD, played for like ten minuets and then when I went to get on this evening I get the error message. I'm in the process of uninstalling and reinstalling but so far I'm at a loss.

We have PAX AUS this weekend, but well start to look into this more next week. Clearly nothing has changed on the FTD side to make these issues start appearing, but if something is changing at the OS level then we'll need to look into it.

No ETA on timing as we have no seen this issue here at all on either Win7 or 8.1 so we'll need to work out how to replicate it before we can find out whats wrong.

In case it helps any I've double checked all of my drivers (including DirectX) and as far as I can see it all looks up to date and good. The little I played I absolutely enjoyed! lol

I spent a bunch of time re-compiling all of the XinputDotNet DLLs we use to support XInput in Unity with the latest VC++/.Net frameworks to see if we can push past this issue for our next update.

I have not tested these new DLLs yet (will do on Monday when Jarryd is back in the office) but if they work here (old ones also work here) we'll ship them in a seperate folder in our next update, so players that are having this issue can try the new DLLs.

I just wanted to let everyone know we have not forgotten about this nor have we been idle - just been stabbing the dark trying to reproduce it (unsuccessfully) and fix it.
