It seems that NVIDIAs new game sharing feature in GeForce Experience causes some Unity games to fail initialisation of DirectX when starting up.
If you get a message from FTD that the DirectX drivers cannot be found, and that you should re-install DirectX and you are running new NVIDIA drivers that supports the game sharing system, please try disabling "Allow friends to join my game play" in GeForce Experience settings.
This seems to be the most common cause that players are reporting here.
Thanks.
Without having access to your machine, I'm not sure what we can do to help. If you've changed so much on your machine, then it could be anything that is preventing it from running now.
Can you post a screenshot of the list of all of the xinput*.dll files in your System folder?
Manually reinstalled directX 11.1
Verified game cache
Deleted local files and re-installed Fight The Dragon
None of these have helped.
Microsoft is well-known to fcuk things up on patchdays for years, that is why they decided to ship updates by default is the best idea ever.

We are looking into this, but currently have no specific place to look as it could be one of a million things.
Ultimately we'd love to remove the dependency on requiring a specific Xinput DLL for FTD to run, but right now there is no alternate solution for us :(
We are on it though...
No ETA on timing as we have no seen this issue here at all on either Win7 or 8.1 so we'll need to work out how to replicate it before we can find out whats wrong.
I have not tested these new DLLs yet (will do on Monday when Jarryd is back in the office) but if they work here (old ones also work here) we'll ship them in a seperate folder in our next update, so players that are having this issue can try the new DLLs.
I just wanted to let everyone know we have not forgotten about this nor have we been idle - just been stabbing the dark trying to reproduce it (unsuccessfully) and fix it.
