Gauntlet Challenge 4: Electric Funeral (possible spoiler)

There's no way to do this, need to kill first rat pack to get the key and after always get instakilled by electricity, even if you kill the rats in one turn and on 2nd turn loot the key.

Edit: Even got key on 1st turn after killing the rats and still no dice, clicking forward as fast as can through the sideways and still get instazapped to death by electricity before can see any safe spot. Can't even go back to try the different way at very start (if can get that open with right chemicals).

Edit2: Not wearing any armor that increases encumbrance and wearing boots that increase AP and run speed.

That's not the "Electrical Funeral" challenge, that's the final stretch. You probably just took too long doing the challenges up to that point and the other contestants got too far ahead of you.

Yet to reach this challenge but I have a friend who is stuck inside without a save to load and gets insta-killed by electricity whatever he does. He's giving up on the game as he simply doesn't want to start over from the beginning as the game is leaving him absolutely no other option. Is there anything that can be done to salvage the game in his situation?

There's nothing that can be done about that now, but in the future your friend should save often and in different slots as the old wisdom says. If it's any consolation he would have had to start from the beginning anyway once the final version is out.

This is not fixed, thankfully I saved it myself before going in but the game made no saves of its own on starting the gauntlet.

I just entered combat and ran till the exit. Killing enemies on the way if a key was needed.

Lol, they tell you that you will die in Gauntlet, if you are too slow.

And yet you people still can't even make a single save, just to be safe, before entering it.

I don't even know what else to say. Yeah, just blame the game design. *facepalm*

Yes, it is poor game design.

The Arena creates a seperate save file before every match and that tells us we can die. Hell just about every quest talks about danger, yet that doesn't cause an unrecoverable game state.

Not only that, but because of the 4 floors, your autosave and back-up autosave will be burned. At no other point in the entire game does this occur, as such players do not account for it.

Furthermore, they give you a quick-save function, even a backup quick-save. So I very much doubt many people create an extra save file before doing the gauntlet, given it is the ONLY time in the entire game that it's required.

Saying something like, "Oh well, you'll have to start the game again" is not a valid response.

In this point I totally agree, there should have been a savegame that was not overwritten at start of gauntlet.
The reason you mentioned is perfectly right, cause you normally dont have to save ... game does perfect, except for this part and if you get stuck here you perhaps have to go back far.
I did arena fight against Carnifex before doing gauntlet first time , so I still had this save, but doing it again, cause I was stuck in Gauntlet wasn`t a pleasure.

Thanks for that. The service bot puzzle and the electric floor tile puzzles
are the most annoying parts in Underrail for me, followed by the Gauntlet.
I don't know when I would have put up with the Gauntlet again.
