Can someone explain these fishing mechanics?
Like what is the maximum time for something to bite?
How many times can you fish successfully in each "spot"?
How far do you need to move to be considered in a new "spot"? (such as in a big cave full of water, it seems possible to fish over and over just by moving around...)
How long does it take for a "spot" to be available for fishing again after its supply is exhausted?

Is there anything else interesting to know about fishing?

Fishing is a longer quest given in Junkyard. The biggest pro is that you get some otherwise hard or impossible to come by crafting supplies, for drugs and poisons. Fishing spots, fishes and the quest are found in the Underrail Wiki

Fishing is pretty nebulous and kind of a drag imo.

Higher dexterity helps you succesfully catch whatever's biting and if the water's quiet for 10-15 seconds it's probably time to move on. The amount of attempts per "area of water" feels random to me.

Just use speedhack trainer for fishing.

If you're into fishing, the Southern Fishing Tour's definitely worth completing, because the reward is that you'll never fail to reel something in as long as you get a bite. Most of the fish for this quest can be bought from food vendors and the SIlent Fisherman random event with a bit of luck IIRC.

Just keep buying fishing rods and place a couple of them at the fast travel docks + water @ "secret society": pick up a few fishes every time you take a ferry instead of going for fishing trips.

Somebody give this one an award; I've never thought of doing this before.
