Combat boots is certainly not a bad option if you are a heavy melee character that intent on utilizing heavyweight. The best boot is probably something with boot-springs in it.
But if you use super-steel and I think you should because you can get max of 160Q on super-steel plates before DC, you only get 5 AP per attack even with tabi.
In my opinion you should go tabi if you go dagger or unarmed. You should go boots if you go sledgehammer and metal armor.
By unarmed you mean gloves?
I suppose you are right though, if I go up to 16 dex then I could use the metal gloves with Tabi. I think it might be best to go with 14 dex and infused ancient rathound gloves.
