Report a translation problem
Leaving from the top level station will get you in a hurt locker right quick.
Right out of the base is a little building with a hermit dude in it that has a side quest about finding his watch. If you're talking to him you're going the right way.
You still have to fight a lot of rathounds but they can easily be exploited using the fences' doors.
Do the outpost quest, then a few other quests some people offer after it around South Gate Station. Explore around those caves, get some xp.
In the start of the game, you are walled off from most of the later areas so exploring around should be managable unless you run into a group of psi beetles.
Also if you get attacked by a bunch of rathounds remember if you have a molotov it can hit them with fear and make them run away for a couple turns.

You have to flip the switches in the outposts to reactivate them, then you can turn the quest in for more xp and the next quest.
