What build do you think is the most fun?
I look forward to doing a second playthrough with another play style at some point. What kind of builds do you guys think are the most fun?

Fun is incredibly subjective. Some people like psi because it's very powerful, i hate psi because it's very powerful.

Personally i am a very big fan of spear because of how tactical they feel - they have a bit of range, enabling you to attack an opponent behind another opponent, they have sorta ranged attack, they have several feats like Impale and Sweep that you need to think about how to use a make you think about positioning a lot. And so on. I think Styg did an amazing job with them.

What was your first build? And fun is subjective, so what does it mean to you?

For me personally, I really enjoyed playing a stealthy thief with the associated perks (Burglar, Ninja Looter, etc). Oftentimes, it wasn't about the loot, but just the thrill of getting into places I couldn't normally reach and pillaging to my heart's content.

Short answer: a build that, for your level of familiarity with the game, is still challenging, but doesn't devolve into pure luck.
Throwing Knives\Sledgehammer hybrid with Interloper, Disassemble, Burglar, Ninja Looter, Salesman and Major Supplier.

But seriously - energy pistols with Ambush. Or any build with Ambush. Makes the environment a more important part of your tactics, looking for dark spots, creating lightsources and so on.

I've legit done a merchant build like that, lol. I'm a hoarder by nature so I tend to do a run like that in any game where it's feasible. Roleplaying as a junk collector who's not above tactical killing of certain targets if they have a high value item I think is too shiny for them to continue owning.

As for most fun builds... honestly, my first LMG build after HD came out is up there. But the very top, number one favourite? Probably a sneaky crossbow/poisions/traps build, as I love getting enemies to run into bear traps and then slowly bleed/poison damage themselves to death.

Not so feasible on Dominating, unfortunately, but a lot of fun on normal if you're the type who has the patience for it. Few things are funnier than running around a corner while a rathound or psi beetle quietly dies in the dark, followed by the yelp or crunch sound effect those two enemies make when they expire :)

I can only commend your dedication to RP. To me it sounds fun on paper, but really boring to actually play. Just like the pacifist builds.

There are so many tools in the game, many of them are situationnal, some are OP, some are useless. Depends on your tastes and your metaknowledge. Like as said, dont try a full "throwing build" on your first or even second play.

Fun things include the chemical pistols. Acid is all-round mostly non resisted damages and can entangle things, the freeze is ... hu ... situationnal, the fire one is a laughting train of comedy circus gold, just listen : you put someone on fire. He is afraid and flees. Then he's not afraid anyore and comes back. But as soon as he's back, the "cant be afraid again for X turns" buff has expired. Put him on fire again and let him clear the stage once more !

But who can ignore the mecanics of the electroshock pistol, namely that the successive damages down the chain are directly depending on the original damages. Be it a critical, on energy gun with already high bonus to crit DAMAGES, and you'll see numbers like that "800 damages" followed by "600 damages" followed by .. you'll get the gist.
Bonus points if you're shooting with the feat that halves AP cost by half (point shot) and have equiped stuff to your guns and headgear that gives bonus damages with special attacks. Bwhahaha.

But the knives ! The knives ! Ho, the knives ... just get a read of the knives feats. Go to your chara sheet, go to the feats page, use the filter with your keyword and use the "show all feats even if i dont have the base stats and skills".

Yeah, you get it, there are many things thatcan be fun is your mindset is right/ripe for it.
You CAN even get the one-punch man feel in full metal armor. Not the best times and survivability all around, but it's kinda possible to pull out and ity's fun when it works.

I intentionally played on easy for that run, which helped a lot. Not least because my goal wasn't even to finish the game, rather I set a goal of reaching 100,000 coins, at which point I retired. Easy helps a lot there since you get the most from selling. On dominating, yeah, it'd be a tedious chore.

A naked fister. The fun won't last long, but there'll be fun.

I always have fun with a stealthy sniper builds. A brawling grenadier is a close second.

Brawling grenadier sounds fun when twinned with the Master Demolitionist Belt.

This. Depending on how many of the game mechanics you've mastered you'll find different builds and different tools fun. Being a stealthy TM AR guy spamming grenades can feel great when you're just learning the game and only starting to turn the tables on your enemies. But once you've memorized where every single death stalker is and how to sneak through half the game with 0 (-1) stealth skill you'll find things like pure TM, crowbar or PER versatility to be more enjoyable. I can't bring myself to finish the LMG build I started back in beta because it no longer provides any challenge.

Sometimes it's about changing a bit, or trying new stuff, or yes challenge runs.

But i've been very Diva-like vague about the knives, but with the diversity of feats and the stat distribution : i rekon one can play 3 to 5 different charas centered around knives alone.

I had great fun with my first shotgunner, with a tendency to have the most damage per shot number (non-auto and a forward grip), with sprinter (that i usually do not take) and Hit and Run, to zip across the battlefield to put the shotgun barrel under the nose of something and just ERASE it. And those behind him btw ^_^ That WAS fun !
Or the play where i took the sniper as a main gun. Again, sprint to begin to turn in a position where to shot without the move-and-shot penalty, and quick tinkering as a safety net/positionning tool during battle (plus psychokinesis to "stop" more things). FUN it was ! :) (but until level 12+ i used an auto-shotgun, crutch this thing is :p)

One of my current favourites is a psi thought control build and energy weapons build, you use 10 int 10 will 7 perception everything else at minimum to start and then just keep boosting intelligence, with high technicalities you do incredible amounts of damage with energy weapons and the thought control is fun for RP and anything else your lasers don't fry. Also makes your crafting skills max out a lot earlier on so it's one of the few builds where you really do have spare skill points.

What the hell are you guys talking about. The guy asked what YOU enjoyed the most and people in here giving him lessons about subjectivity.

I like psi most. Maybe it's just because the neurons in my monkey brain light up like the night sky on the fourth of july whenever I delete a boss + 90% of the room with a single guaranteed critical hit Cryokinetic Orb blast and then wipe up the survivors with a few brain blasts. Maybe it's the fact that you can telepathically mindf*ck people and the game makes you feel like a god at a certain point. Maybe I just like magic in my post apocalyptic subway surfer.

On the opposite end of things, I also like playing sledgehammer murder hobo. There are few things in this world as satisfying as annihilating some cave junky with a single swing of a giant hammer.
