Opening that bloody gate [late game stuff]
So, I've spent at least some 20-30 hours in deep caverns now in order to open that bloody gate. I have all the components but I can't get it fixed.

My original plan was to get the AI core for the repair bot. Well, I failed the persuation check with IRIS, so I left, somehow managed to get a level, dumped all 40 points into persuation and then failed the skillcheck again, because 105 persuation apparently isn't enough.

So I thought ok, lets try dumping all those points into mechanics - 110 mechanics, still can't repair it on my own. Then I've remembered there are those Universal Mechanics Tool Sets and I don't have one on me atm - surely having one will lower the skill requirements to some reasonable number? Well, no - it did not. In fact I'm not sure if those do anything at all.

So there's that. My last option is to fight the IRIS bots to get the AI core. And my primary weapons of choice so far were stealth and a knife, so that's going to be just peachy.

Does anyone have some tips or tactics against those industry bots? I can probably handle the rest with some luck.

Alternatively, I'm halfway to the next level, but using the oddity system I don't think I'll be able to scrape any more xp - unless local siphoners drop some new oddities. Or mabe the worms in labyrinth south? I've tried to kill a bunch of those white maggots, those didn't drop any oddities. Didn't try to screw with the big ones - I expect them to drop something, but I need about 15xp to the next level...

Also - is there any way to obtain healing items in Deep Caverns? My supplies are almost dry, the guy with tchortists has nothing and Leo only had lke 2 hypos and a bandaid.

Well, there was a lot less robots than I expected there to be. Problem solved. >_>

How many traps do you have on your person? With the high mechanics skill you can craft a LOT of bear traps from the plates you find in the warehouse areas.

For this section I used all the traps I had collected in DC.
With the 4 turrets, 2 on either side I placed an even amount on both sides and used 2-3 mines to link the two sides together, I think it was about 20 in total.
Once angry face appears I throw a grenade at any of the traps to chain reaction the lot of them- the turrets take a HUGE beating.
You could cluster one side and emp the other- leaving 2 blown up 2 emp’d, lots of options if you have the traps.
As for the robots- BEAR TRAPS all over those closed doors! I’m not sure how your character will go with just a knife, it may be difficult.

As for the bots- those industrial flame ones are the worst- I'd recommend a ranged attack even if it's crappy. I managed to kill all the other bots but two of those- I kited them around the central turreted area.

Remember that most energy shields will completely nullify the flamethrower attack of an industrial robot.

Guys, guys, thanks but I did it. I've beaten the game actually, or rather I've beaten the virtual dice.

I was expecting there to be at least 1 more group of robots coming at me from the north, but in the end there weren't any.

I took those few traps I had, layed them down around the location entrance, took down the industry bots with armor piercing bursts (guns are my long range/burst backup against anything too hardcore for a knife, but stadnard ammo had abysmal results against the industry bot, so I didnt expect too much of an improvement from armor percing rounds, but damn, they did almost 3 times the damage), changed knife for the one of those electrical ones, used different shield (apparently the shield capacity is what really matters against fire - the one I used first had great defense agains slow projectiles, but was almost completely drained by single flamethrower attack), obviously the EMP grenades and since I've quickly dealt with the group coming from the south, I could just leave the area and regroup anytime and whole thing became pretty easy after that.

I would say my most powerful weapon in this fight was cheese. It was a cheesy victory for my Psi/Crossbow build. I put on caltrop-proof boots and wall-to-wall carpeted the place with spikey goodness, and stacked all my mines at the entrance. Once I triggered angry face, I ran into the north hallway and stealthed out, healed up, went out, killed an industrial, ran away, stealthed out, healed up, rinse repeat. The turrets I whittled down with cheesy LoS corner exploiting and shock bolts.

The industry bots are true menaces. Plasma sentries are trivial unless there's a bunch of 'em with their shields up and all my drugs and skills are on cooldown.
