Combat with faceless at the Univercity elevator doesn't count towards determination of their attitude to your character. Use bear traps, improved force field, molotov cocktails, flashbang grenades, stingball grenades and any other means to slow them or immobilize them.

you can just try to survive until the lift arrives

You can just hide in the corner. If you're brave you can try killing them to steal their oddities. They won't hold it against you later.

Hey I brained like at least 100 Faceless at the Core City checkpoint, hoping such a tasty source of loot that close to a city would eventually bear fruit after they stopped spawning but they didn't seem to ever want to stop respawning, so I gave up and had to leave the delicious loot pile behind  does this provoke hostilities with them later on, knowing that I've offed a significant amount of their boys?

Want to know in advance before I help or hinder the other guys hanging around, like the injured one in Core City and the group near Foundry. If relations are already soured with 'em, no point in not genociding the rest of them, right?

Yes, killing Faceless when you do not have to counts (such as the blockades), they will not be too happy to see you again (if you can roll back, i would advise to do it, since it is your first run i guess).

Not my first run but I've also never gotten to the Deep Caverns, and those Faceless died quite a while ago now, rolling back is probably not feasible really. Ah well, the ability to genocide others is the true test of someones worth, is it not?

They attacked me first, for what it's worth! It's on them.

I suppose I'll try helping the non-hostile Faceless at Foundry, Core City and at Rail Crossing anyway and hope they forget the corpses I left behind in my wake. Seems fair, and if they're not capable of burying the hatchet over a couple of hundred dead members of their race then well, I don't want to be their friend anyway!

Also, I found it amusing that even when you enrage the entire group of Faceless including the Doctor, he'll still apply adrenaline shots to other Faceless he's supposed to be berserk-killing lol. That guy is completely focused on his job, it seems.

Well, if you really pissed them off, you gonna get some "fun" time in Deep Caverns involving stealthed-poisonous-backstabbing-psi Faceless Gaunts. Good luck with them! :steamsalty:

I'm from South Gate Station, and I say KILL 'EM ALL! :pecs:

I guess when I eventually reach the Deep Caverns I'll bring some flares.

Helping in Foundry or Rail Crossing is all you need to get safe passage, so do one of those. Kind of a spoiler but having them attack on sight is the biggest pain ever so you need to know.

Would you say being hostile towards the Faceless in the Deep Caverns is a better or worse feeling than trying to deal with Locust Hives as a Hammer user during your first ever playthrough of this game? 'cause I've still got PTSD from that SO very much!

I don't mind non-spoiler based spoilers, I.E I know that Tanner leaves at some point but I don't know WHY (and would rather find out myself, etc) so if you want to explain why being hostile towards the Faceless in the Deep Caverns is supremely painful and it doesn't compromise the story, that's fine lol.

Appreciate your help and discretion though. I told the Faceless near Foundry to go forth and multiply, I let the weird Doktor Claw scan my meatball, and I patched up that other Faceless even though he apparently needs to get out of Core City alive so not sure what good it'll do him when a Praetorian snipes him down as soon as he goes through an area transition, but hey that's not my problem, right?

So murderising all of those Faceless at the checkpoint is in fact, fine? They're not going to scan my meatball later on and see me slaughtering their fellow buddies with glee? I guess it only checks what you do in quests and not during freeform exploration, then?

Oh, they just own a big part of DC that you need to pass through multiple times and it's a pain fighting them. Lots of patrols moving around, lots of gaunts combing the entire area in stealth. And they all respawn. It's just not fun.
If you head to their base to talk then they'll mindread you and get mad over you killing so many of them, but that just means you should avoid their base. Unless you want a fight, but if you do then that's still an option.
Greb Jul 20, 2020 @ 2:57pm
Maybe I can handle everything possible in the area, and then visit their base last, where them turning hostile won't be so much of a problem...? If that's a thing you can do, anyway.

Thanks for the info :winter2019happysnowman:

I bumped into that Faceless Gaunt in the Foundry area, not sure I would have seen him otherwise. A place filled with multiple roaming ones sounds pretty awful, maybe I should find a good set of Motion Detection NVGs before Deep Caverns..

Yeah, just checking in with information people probably already know anyway, lol.

Killing all those Faceless at the Core City Checkpoint definitely didn't do me any favours, even though when you think about it it was the toxic gas and the enraged Faceless themselves doing all the killing, but I guess that's not good enough for these ignorant, savage rock zoners! Pah!

I helped them in every other situation possible, I even shared my Super Health Hypo with that caged dude, man! Didn't even kill any at Buzzers place, but I did disable the bots. Nor did I defend myself during the elevator segment, even after meeting the caged dude again and then went and had a nice little chat with the Faceless Commander in the Deep Caverns, and, well..

..I can just not talk to him, right? It feels like I don't need to, I've done practically everything else except headed North where I'm guessing evilness is...are they actually critical to the plot or just for supplies?

lol these Faceless Gaunt guys...just what I always wanted! Deathstalkers who can cast Psi-Cognitive Interruption, Pseudo-Spatial Projection and also use the Expose Weakness ability! What in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Styg? :god_dead:
