Harlands Quest: Cameras
Not sure what I am doing. Found the broken camera, and a side passage with one stalker. No idea what to do.

You can report back to Harland now.

This quest is interesting but it suffers from some weird design flaws and textual errors.

I am in the state of hurry and wait for the RV.

A lot of quests in Underrail are like that, hence why I went ahead and asked.

I think this quest is a random dungeon quest. I've not had any dialogue for it in this new run I'm doing and the camera isn't broken when I check in with Harland... That or it's triggered by something specific that I haven't figured out yet.

Anyway, to complete the quest you go into the small side cave, kill the guy in there, take the components and return to Harland. You can tell him the guy in the tunnel took the camera and that it was really dark so you couldn't see anything else.
Then he sends you to engineering to continue the quest.

From what I understand this is a quest that is given by Harland and the events are selected at random. It start the same way for everyone (go check what happened to that camera and report back so that you can commission some explorer robot to help you find your way) and once at the end of the exploration you find people. The people you find at the end will be smugglers who are being forced to keep on smuggling by robots or another time they're going to be zombies who got poisoned by one of their own... I haven't found a full walkthrough of this quest with all the different possibilities.

Every time I went thru its settlers in a cavern being held captive by some cannibals. If you do try to save them without losing a single one make sure you recover your personal gear (if you had chosen option for one of the cannibals to capture you and place you in cage) before letting them out of the cage because if they see you touch their red-shelves they turn hostile even if its your own gear)

Is this quest completely random? Playing before, Lucas asked me to check on Harland, and now he doesn't mention anything about it.

It's one of two random SGS quests. Check the surgery room for a body and ask Pasquale about it.

The body and camera quests are mutually exclusive, so if you have one you won't have the other.

These quests are horribly inconsistent. I only got a little exp and loot in the camera quest. In the dead woman quest, however, I had so much loot I could barely carry, including five (5) psionic mentors from the thought control school.

Camera mission is much easier, so maybe it gives less items on purpose? Though yeah, I prefer dead scavenger because of mega loot.
I guess the good news is you can check which one you got as soon as you start the game so it's easy to reset and try again if you feel like it.

Go to the lowest level of Southgate Station - from there, you can exit to the right, and you will find yourself in the location where several NPCs are trying to clear the rocks that block the rails and the tunnel beyond. Exit to the right again - you will enter the area with a bunch of rathounds and multiple staircases down. Take any of the stairs down - you will be in the tunnels below Southgate Station. On this location, look for the blocked entrance to Southgate Station - you will be on the other side of Harland's room.

The broken camera is somewhere nearby, very close to the blocked entrance.

When you start a new game, the is an internal choice of mutually exclusive locations and quests that are added to the "base" game. Example one : Coral OR Booth. Example two : Harlan's quest OR Water Treatment Facility, near Junkyard.

If there is no camera quest, at all, than you'll have the "mushroom cove scavenger" instead.
