Any point NOT killing Zack and his friends?
So I have decided to get rid of the plasma sentries keeping Zack and his friends prisoner during the camera quest.
First I did it the hard way then fond the easy way. I have noticed that although Zack is happy about you killing his "guards" he will still attack you if you loot ANYTHING except for the plasma sentry corpses.

Does Zack and his band of smugglers ever give you anything except for their thanks? Because if that is all I am going to get for saving their butts, I would rather get rid of the criminal scum and loot their stockpile.

I think that plan will work fine. Harlan's mission doesn't require you to do anything about what you find, just to report back to him. And AFAIK, Zack and his crew have no bearing on future missions, factions or anything of importance.

The same goes for some of the random cave sections that can spawn between SGS outposts and Mushroom Cove. You can sometimes get random people defending their position from raiders, but they'll also go after you if you try to hijack their rather substantial stash. I tend to save them, then off them and loot everything.

Thanks, I didn't think there were any repercussions but wanted to make sure. I ended up killing him and his friends and looted some blueprints for a shield generator. Since I couldn't seem to find those blueprints at any merchant earlier I was pretty stoked.

It wasn't murder, it was self defence. After I had saved the group from being enslaved by the evil authorities, I picked up an item to ask if I could have it as a reward for saving all of them. They were so selfish, they instead decided to gang up and beat the living snot out of me. I can't help it if they were too stupid to realise I was wearing steel armour and carrying a big gun.

Solid! You don't normally find that item, let alone the blueprint to make one, until a fair bit later. Should make things a lot easier if you can build a decent one right away.

dont even ask them, just lure them away with a nade. I call the level 1 green grenades "alarm nades". The blueprint-getting before Depot A is rare indeed, so yes jump on the occasion :p

Rare but not inexistant, i had the blueprint in junkyard stores quite a few times now; the others "physical" parts are quite common to be fair.
