Hilarious, really.
+1 thats how people really act on here
That and being told "you must be American" so some bigotry as well.
But it does explain it, the tutorial explains how lockpicking and hacking work. As for buying stuff, you just go to shops, surely that doesn't need explaining.
This was a very fool-proof choice of a game design, no doubt.
Didn't have high enough level.
I know how to lock pick, it's just that there are 50 locks and 3 lockpicks
Probably still better than being a guy who hates the game by his own admission, yet still hangs around for weeks on forum after dropping it, just to diss the game and people.
Seriously, chill, dude
They are sold in armory and engineering department (by Harold). There are plenty of them and they are quite cheap. Hacking tool is sold by Ezra in engineering department and only needs batteries to work. I think one also can be found in some of the starting areas.
You can actually notice that people who don't start their conversation with sentences that roughly translates to "i can't do stuff, which means the game is shit, so help me you fucking neckbeards" actually tend to receive sincere help from the community around here. On the other hand, if you behave like everything is game's and other people's fault, you get called on it, and probably trolled.
You are mistaken. There are many different ways of dealing with the bots.
In a room on that level you are guaranteed to find 3 EMP grenades. No skill required to use those. You can also buy more if needed back at SGS. Also, HE grenades do significant damage to the bots.
With those you can take them all out quite easily.
Or if you invested in stealth, just sneak your way through the entire level. You don't have to kill any of the bots.
Or as mentioned, the Electricity damage Psi spell is great against the bots.
What I like to do is get their attention and then duck into a room (the one where you find the EMP grenades works fine).
Close the door and end your turn. Next turn, open the door, then close the door. You have just enough AP to open and close it in one turn. So don't do anything else or you won't be able to close it.
Do that for a few turns and you will end up with all 4 bots jammed in front of the door.
Now when you open it and see that, take a step back and throw an EMP against the wall behind them. This way, no matter how much you miss due to low throwing skill, it will still hit all of them.
Since they are stunned you don't have to close the door until 2 turns later. Therefore on your next turn, throw and HE grenade. Then close the door.
Now, go back to doing the open/close routine until your cooldowns are done, AND the bots are no longer stun immune.
Then just repeat the above, EMP + HE.
Depending on what difficulty you are playing on, you should not need more than the 3 EMPs you found, and maybe 2 HE grenades.
You can kill them like that on any build.
The moral of this story? Don't jump to the conclusion that what you thought of to deal with a situation is the only option available. This game has deep combat mechanics and many different ways of dealing with the situations you encounter.
Therefore, ask for advice instead of ranting.
This is not "one of those games."
Still, as Qiox said, there are more than one way to skin the cat. Discovering those ways is part of the fun.
P.S. on my first playthrough i didn't even fought those bots.
It kinda is tho. Yes, it is *technically* possible to beat these bots, which i did with the dumb popping in and out of doors, but then i was greeted with a bunch of raiders who dealt 60-80 damage a turn. Which meant another hour trying to figure out how to kite them the best.
I shouldn't be barely winning fights while maxing out PSI powers.
Anyway, the game has it's moments, but the biggest dealbreaker for me is the asinine trading system. Am i actually supposed to write down what a trader needs, run for 15 minutes back to the base, pick up the item, run for 15 more minutes back and only then trade them in?
Cmon, there is "hardcore" and then there is "annoying on purpose". And i don't begin to have a clue why and when monsters & vendors reset.
The trading system teaches you not to be hoarder and instead only take things of value. And there's no need to run back and forth. Nothing decays in containers or on the ground. Either pick a spot on the ground by the trader, or a nearby barrel and dump any that you would want to sell. If they don't want it now, you can always try again another time.
Just because you are playing a "maxed out psi" build does not mean you should be ignoring everything else that is available to you in the game.
Stealth, traps and grenades are there to complement all builds. You don't have to use all of them, but using none of them just does not make any sense.
Why handicap yourself and complain that it is too hard?
