These must be new or a recent update, or I totally missed them in my playthroughs. I had a quick look at the UnderRail character builder where they're listed under perks, and it seems there's a couple that are pretty major events and accomplishments.
That kind of implies you can get multiple, right? I guess maybe you can only get one faction tattoo which makes sense, but then you can get as many accomplishment ones as you are entitled to...maybe?
Cause I know I'd rather have some badass feat recorded on my skin instead of being a walking advertisement for the Protectorate or something, lol.
Drifter one is the "you have no options one so pick this" option though you can pick it if you don't like your other options.
You get it by telling the mutie to decide.
I'm thinking the best general ones are sgs because it gives you a little of everything (and also the only one that increases psi, even if only a little), jkk if you want to get those persuade options but not have to invest as much, or coretech/tchorts for crafting.
The other ones I can see being either situationaly good (like the default one), just pretty bad (like Praetorian), or they just come in too late to be a valid option (Tchort, Shadowlith) besides for bragging rights.
Yeah, I'd agree. While any build isn't going to use all of those, quite a few would use enough that it's justifiable to increase all of them like that. Two points might not seem like a lot, but when it's 2 point closer to reaching skill gates for lockpicking, hacking, persuasion, mercantile, psi schools you're not using (for the visions in the occulus), and of course crafting, it does build up.
Unless it's random, I found mine in the sewers one screen west and one south from the entrance on the dock's level. Entrance is right next to a bridge with a bear trap that has a mutie ambush you who has a unique melee claw.

The exit in the bottom left is where the tattoo artist is.....at least for me.
Also, this is not a new game. This is a game that existed before the patch hit. So I think it might be in a random location.
That's just a theory though.
I'm curious....had you been to the sewers already? I hadn't been in the sewers yet when the patch hit. Perhaps it's not a matter of "is the save game old" and it's more "the new patch doesn't change what's already explored".
