Did they buff the throwing knives yet?
I've been wanting to do a full throwing build, but I feel like this game takes a crap on throwing knives. Not enough dmg to face against heavily armored enemies.

You probably need to add crits and poisons on it

Maybe you could complement the build a bit. One throwing item that works well nowadays against high DT is... spears. You can even give them energy damage.
Spear Throw obviously takes a feat slot, but the damage is so high, especially with the new stability wings.

Yes, but not against armor. Mix it with something that can penetrate armor.

Or compliment it with shocking shurikens if you are masochist / purist.

They did buff it:
  • You can now throw acid (the same component you use to make acid chem ammo) similar to a throwing knife. At 3 DEX it's 30AP and at 18 DEX it's 18AP per vial.
  • Knife Thrower's Glove - special combat gloves, Action point cost of Throwing Knife reduced by 3 (think it only works w/ throwing knives and Shock Shuriken, not sure about acid vial).
  • Remote Surgeon - new feat: Increases the unresisted damage modifier of throwing knives by additional 50%.

Adding to this, throwing knives themselves were buffed in the same patch that introduced the Knife Thrower's Glove weapon and the Remote Surgeon feat. Now, they deal with 130% of target's mech resistance / threshold, but the damage that gets through is increased by 75% against living targets.

This makes them quite strong against unarmored / lightly armored targets. For more heavily armored targets, see Doomsayer's advice:

Craft Shock Shurikens for a throwing build, they are powerful! I can easily kill enemies with 2-4 shurikens

This is the build I am running I decided not to go heavy traps and go for caltrops instead and I really like them and there is a lot of cheese you can pull off with them like prepping the battlefield beforehand with poison caltrops. (the beast fight was cake) Quick tinkering is definitely and option and I spec'd fatal throw threshold so it goes off at 35 percent health. I honestly don't know if remote surgeon or ripper is better. You are going to need shock shurikens I found them in the battery plant quest and they can be bought from Blaine I think. You have tons of utility with this build and nets are super good cc plus you can make the best grenades and the can crit. I went heavy evasion once I had everything I wanted and took temporal manipulation late in the game. Hypertoxicity is a must.

Typical combat you open with a grenade and everything dies or gets low then you finish them off with throwing knives. A lot of heavily armored enemies are still effected by caltrops poison even if you cant bust their armor with your knives and if all else fails shock shurikens work great. Also dont forget those bio contamination grenades.

it's pretty powerful now with fatal throw and remote surgeon, more suited fore melee character tho, and I recommand doble toxicity if you are a very tanky character, especially op early game, but wont work on boss and other very tough enemies

I went for remote surgeon, fatal throw AND ripper, combined with three pointer, you can throw grenade and kill 1-3 enemies and first turn; I used a machete to leverage on ripper feat for fighting high armor enemies, turned out I hardly even need that, all but a few critters in Black Sea of enough armor to resist this build, I even took survivor instinct in case there are very hard to kill enemies, only in quad nage fight I made use of all these

but the whole point of throwing is for melee character to do decent dmg at distance before charging, and also blind the snipers with cave ear poison, with spears you have to retrieve the weapon, the dmg is really high admittedly, even overkill for most occasions.
