Problems with Tchort fight
I'm lvl 22 and my build is a hybrid one (crossbow/psi but without methatermics) and my damage output is honestly laughable because my build is too ''balanced'' I guess. I managed to take out 3 tanks, but the one in the upper left is unreachable. I have high level stealth but it doesnt matter, on your way to that tank a tentacle bursts from the ground and detects you no matter what. I tried hitting that tank from the ''safe room'' but eventually I just get swarmed by tchortlings that NEVER leave again even if I just wait for them to in the room (and it's not like I can wait forever because Tchort electrical charges keep hitting me until I am forced to consume all hypos/bandages), I also get surrounded by tentacles outside the room.
I wonder if my build is just too weak to take on Tchort and it's simply impossible to finish the game at this point. I haven't done the mutagen puzzle by the way, is it worth to load an earlier save and do it? I read that it just takes out a few tentacles which does not seem to be a big deal to me?

I mean, doing the puzzle can't hurt. Deleting tentacles means you might not get spotted when you go to destroy the last tank. Though if your build is bad enough maybe even that won't help.
If you do destroy all the tanks then it takes like 20 turns for the tentacles to respawn, so if you can manage to kill them and then throw a molotov behind you (enemy ai won't walk through fire unless it can see you, so that effectively blocks the tchortlings) you get a lot of free time to spam the eye. Though of course that requires you to kill the tentacles which might be hard.

Oftentimes it's better to ignore the tanks and just go straight for the eyeball. Between Snipe and Aimed Shot you might be able to burst it down. And if your chosen PSI school is Psychokinesis then adding Telekinetic Proxy => Precognition => TK Punch to it all is even better. You'd probably need a crafted xbow for this to be effective though.

crossbow/psi?
i think you equally bad in both, because you cant have max perception and will/int
so... grind levels to max and solve mutagen puzzle

You reached endgame boss in Underrail, your build is certainly not weak for chosen difficulty.

Try popping your medicines and bursting the eyeball down. If that's not possible, solve mutagen puzzle.

I don't know what is wrong... I got:
- Trance
- Powerful headband
- Spirit Staff
- Focus Steam
- Hypercerebrix
- Pickled Mindshrooms
- Will 10
- Intelligence 12
- Though Control 152
- Psychhokinecs 152
- Metathermics 182
- Temporal Manipulation 71

And I used Telekinetic Proxy and solved Mutagen Puzzle.

But my Neural Overload reaches 60, 70 damage, Telekinetic Punch around 150 and Implosion 400.

What did I miss? What is wrong?
Thank you in advance!

Hypercerebrix doesn't affect psionics, for one. What does you headband look like?
panguitarra Apr 24, 2023 @ 9:05am
Yeah, Hypercerebrix doesn't help.. My faullt...
Temporal Manipulation 152 (my fault again)
My headband:
- Maximum psi point 15
- Psionic Skills 22
- Psi Ability Cost decresead 24%

I got another one that I can use:
- Neutal Overload damage increased by 40%

So.. I can't understand why Neural Overload is damaging so low!
I'm playing Hard Mode!

Everywhere I look on the internet, people say that they can do massive damage with neural overload... I have a lot of boosts and I only got 50 damage at max.
- Trance (+100% bonus damage)
- Powerful headband (+40% damage increased)
- Spirit Staff (+15% damage increased + 40% critical damage)
- Focus Steam (+15% critical chance)
- Pickled Mindshrooms (+40% damage increased)
- Though Control 152 (+35% critical chance, 270% critical bonus)
- Neutal Overload 56 - 101 dmg + 10% for each point of intelligence over 5
- Now I remember why I'm using Hypercerebix (+ 2 intelligence)
- Intelligence 12 (14 with hipercerebrix / +90% damage)

I can't understand what is wrong.. maybe a bug?

Target's intelligence, not yours.

Read this page, it should help: https://www.stygiansoftware.com/wiki/index.php?title=Neural_Overload

Alright, Hypercerebix doesn't help. There are a lot of videos and testimonials of people killing Tchort with Neural Overload in two or three rounds, doing 300dmg to 500dmg. I can stack all boosts above, but... 50 dmg??? Something is very wrong! I appreciate all the answers.. I will dig it!

I'm doing the same amount of damage using or not using all the stuff above... It looks like a bug... All the stuff above isn't changing any of the psi abilities.

Most of the stuff you listed doesn't affect normal damage, only the Spirit Staff and headband with Neuroscopic Filter do (the skill boost headband does indirectly, by increasing effective skill, but only by something like 4-8 damage per attack). The food and drug buffs are for critical damage bonus.

I'm guessing you watched something like Matthew Wilson's youtube video of a neural overload one trick, or saw some reddit boasting threads. Those builds are very different from yours.

Edit: math

These skills are very low for that point in the game. You should have closer to 300. Or higher.
I mean, I get that it's hard splitting skill points when you're quad psi. But you still should have allocated things better.
