[Quest Help] Elwood impossible to kill or steal card from.
So yeah, I'm going with a pure Telepath/Thermo Psi build and there is no possible way to complete this quest. Everything I do just aggros the entire gambling house and I get murdered by the turn economy (also, dodge/evade apparently is garbage because even though I have 35 in each I never avoid ANYTHING which I can't afford as a Psi since I had to cut my HP to get my powers) I can't ambush him in that hallway because he always beats me on initiative and calls for help, which gets me gunned down before I even get a turn.

Shutting the power off aggros the whole building so I can't shut the power off either. And I'm not running a persuade/intimidate build so I can't get him alone either.

Is there some other way I'm supposed to do this? I can't find any other methods of getting the key off him.

Wait until he paths from the gambling room to the bar. In the little hallway there, if you hit him hard and fast, he'll drop without aggroing the room.

If you had psychokinesis and Force User, you could one-shot him with TK Punch no problem. As it is, you might want to try a Mental Breakdown, then adrenaline and Premeditate on the following turn so you can just Neural Overload him to death.

EDIT: Manually start turn-based mode when he's near you. You'll automatically win initiative that way, so you don't have to worry about it.

Didn't even know I could do that, thanks I'll give it a whirl!

I don't think I have mental breakdown, The game won't let me boost my skill high enough to let that guy buy it. I think I'm up to either 35 or 40 in either discipline. Is there a way to respec at this stage of the game?

There will never be a way to respec in UnderRail (unless, obviously, the game itself is changed at some point), so no. Without Mental Breakdown, your best bet is probably to hit Adrenaline so you can get an extra Neural Overload in, if you need it. Elwood isn't very tough, so you may not need it at all.

Another option is to craft a Taser. And make using it the last action you do on your turn, if you can't kill him outright. That will stun him and then you get another turn to dump on him.

All good suggestions, I ended up just one-turn killing him by blasting him in the face with the flamethrower psi power.

However, having dealt with THAT, I'm now stuck in his bunker with three robots none of my powers work on and a lockpick skill too low to get in the vents and zero stealth.

They seriously need to include some utility powers for Psi or something, it's a bit weird that I can explode people with telekinesis blasts but I can't bash doors down with the same blasts?

Psi can deal with bots, use Electrokinesis (psychokinesis school). If you have Premeditation (you really, really should) you can exploit their inability to open doors and cheese them to death.

What school is premeditation? None of the 4 psi trainers seem to have that power listed. Also my Telekinesis is too low for electro since I was told TK was only good for hybrid-monk styloe character builds and went Telepath/Fire-ice instead.

Premeditation is a Feat. A very, very, very powerful one. https://www.underrail.com/wiki/index.php?title=Premeditation Zero action point cost for any ability is a big deal!

Electrokinesis only requires 30 points invested. Very much worth it.

You were told wrong, although Telekinesis is good for a monk (or any melee build really). You'll need to come up with some way of dealing with robotic enemies, which could be lots of things (although TK and emp grenades are probably best).

Premeditation is a feat, you can get it at level 6.

Another option, is to just buy a victory. You do that by wearing a tactical vest with 7-10 physical threshold and 200% increase vs bullets. Or an Anti-Rifle Overcoat. Either way, the bots will do exactly ZERO damage when they shoot you.

For damaging them, you can use plain old Mark 1 HE grenades and of course, EMP grenades.

Not picking telekinesis as a psi is kinda tying one arm behind the back. Besides the TK punch (your silent one-shot kill and infiltration tool) you also get the all-important forcefield, which is probably the best power in my opinion. It deals no damage, but it is unbeatable battlefield control.
Then there are disruptive field and implosion, which come in handy often enough. Many like telekinetic proxy, but I either do something wrong or the power is not very impressive.

Hmmm, I had some ranks in tailoring but I cannot for the life of me find those items in any of the vendor NPCs inventories.

Either way I've decided to restart and rebuild this character now that I know I should be investing in ALL the disciplines.

Here is my level 4 character looking at the vendor in Junkyard. He has a few different types for sale. Although the best he has is 6 Threshold + 200%. But that means any gun shots from the bots have the damage reduced by 18. They should barely do anything to you with something like this:

To craft one, you would need the blueprint, which is sold at the SGS weapons vendor. For ingredients you need any type of "Carrier Vest" + Laminated Fabric Balistic Panel to get the +200% vs bullets. That Balistic panel can require some luck to find early on.

Ahhhh I didn't even know a vendor was in there. I thought people would get pissed if I went in there since every other building shows a red hand of angeringness.
