Spear or sword and Smg or shotgun heavy armour build

Basicly i wanna go for a Heavy armour (or riot armour) build with ethier sword or a spear and for range use a smg or a shotgun (ok with assult rifel as well)
how can i make this build?
i already screwed up my first build and i actully wanna play this game so any help is much need
totaly willing to dump any psyc powers, stealth or social skills

Melee + Ranged builds are usually weak. You spread yourself too thin. You are either mediocre at both, or good at one and bad at the other, which you end up ignoring and wishing you didn't waste anything into.

There's literally no reason to think you need both. If you are going sword or spear, then do that. If you are going with a type of gun, then go with that.

Sword works well with riot Shield, while AR works really well with metal armor
here's my AR full tungsten build.[underrail.com] it's very tanky. You could read the full thread or just skip it and scroll wee down about 8th post or ctrl+F "final build". I recommend to get 55 Temporal Manipulation around level 10 and buy Psycho-temporal Contraction as soon as you finished drill parts. You can buy it at Rail Crossing's Doctor . You'll have 95% armor penalty, so your movement depends on Sprint, PTC, and jumping beans. But AR has pretty good accuracy, so it's all gucci. You could reliably kill people up to 7 tile of range

Full-melee non-psi build is viable, but expedition will make it pain in the ass. But you can solves any problem with the good ol' grenade. My rule of thumb is, if you're melee and don't have psi, get 112 chemistry for grenade MK5 with at least 80 throwing

Thanks for the build tip but how viabel would it be of me to bring an SMG with the riot shield or a shotgun? It dose not have to be GOD tier just good enough to get the througth the game at normal. Some pepole you just wanna chop while others you just wanna chop you know?

It's viable enough. Both need 7 STR to become optimal due to Full-Auto feat and Riot Shield doesn't really weight that much (if you don't use Tungsten shield at least). But you'll get better use from Tac Vest, since it's quite easy to not let melee enemies getting too close. RS is good for Stalker tho

Actually, I'm not sure if either SMG or Shotgun able to be used on Riot Shield, since I think both of them are 2-handed weapon. Only pistol can be used with Shield I think

How would a pistol fare on a melee build? a find alot of pepole saying not to bother with pistols

Firearm pistol isn't that broken, so not a lot of people talk about it. Energy pistol on other hand....
Imo pistol need hefty investment on both feats and PER stats, so it's not that good with melee. Although max dex knifer / fist might have decent gun stats with Versatility and very low AP consumption, making Laser Pistol a good sidearm, since it could works great without any dedicated feat (although practical physicist and critical power helps a ton)
But for fist, you'd better go with Psychokinesis psi hybrid

ok so i made a prototype build here for a heavy armour melee and gun build would this work? i only lvl it until lvl 6
also took 15 in bio due to the fact that i wanted the doctor feat just so i could combine it with fast metabolism and heal ALL the damage

Most people will say that picking both Doctor and Fast Metabolism is overkill. But I'd say it's a great combo for 10 CON+ build, especially Doctor, since you'll need to wait like, 8 min real time if you wanna heal up with health hypo on higher difficulty

I wouldn't recommend getting both gun and melee. It's a big no no for any build (unless it's versatility and you need the skill to open up feats). You could try burst build, you'll get SMG very early. Grab 50 effective Pickpocket so you could get hundreds of free bullets early on. Once you get to the 2nd town, grab yourself Assault Rifle and refer to my guide above

Else, just play 18 STR Balor's Hammer build

it annoyes me to no end tbh that playing a charater that uses a gun and a melee weapo is so non viabel!
As i said earlyer it dose not have to be god tier just viabel in the sense that i can hit things hard in melee but also hit things decently in range combat

Well anything is viable on normal, so there's that...
And when it fails, just increase your throwing to 80 and finish the game with grenades
