Free drones vs Protectorate

So, I can't find that much lore online about these factions, only that the Protactorate are evil facists and the free drones are evil terrorists.
But not why they are these things.

And what kind of vendor do the free drones have?
At least I found out, that the protectorate has a gun vendor

There are TONS of information out there, but perhaps it's better if you proceed from what info you gathered through the game and make a decision on your own. Free drones are of course labelled as terrorists being the only group that actually opposes the the Protectorate for invading their homes, especially when the tin cans do the labeling. I mean, FD are not terrorists in a way that they don't go into Hardcore City Bar to mow down innocent patrons or shoot civilians at the train station then blow themselves up. But they do ambush Protectorate forces.

As for the merchants, Free Drones vendor is more general an maybe stealth focused, Protectorate has a really good selection on guns.

There are some debates in formus, I remember THIS ONE [underrail.com] being the best.

Both factions have enough good/bad insinuations pinned to them for you to justify either being good or bad depending on preference. It's mostly about what you want to roleplay as, you can even join neither (on classic you won't really suffer xp wise).
