Also, i wouldn't recommend going west-side of underpass, those stalker are surprisingly very strong, even at high level
What level are you? What quest are you trying to do? Where exactly are you going and dying?
I am going to go try and talk to that soldier again, if that fails im not sure where to go now.
what do I do against hostile psi users? Icebolt is a killer if I get hit.
You want help but you don't answer the most basic questions that would let someone actually give useful advice.
If we don't know what level you are, there's nothing useful that can be said. If you don't say what quest you are trying to do, then how can anyone tell you if you are going the wrong way or not?
Lunatics aren't early game friendly, they're pretty tough. Especially if you're playing a psi user, if one of them uses Neural Overload on you, you're done. I think I know which band of Lunatics you mean, the ones with the dog, hanging around the barrel, just South of the GMS compound? Yeah you'll want to avoid those until you've unlocked access to T.N.T and such, for sure.
Turn on Outposts > Get Big Brets hoppers > Meet Gorksy at GMS compound > Go do some quests around Junkyard > Acquire the Armadillo Drill > Acquire TNT and open up the entire game map
That's your general process. There's no shame in running from the various beef gates which will destroy you even if you're packing like, 20 in every attribute and even 160 quality equipment if you're a low level, because you can't exercise the right amount of force via other skills to fend off multiple higher level bandits, lol.
All the nice and fun psionic skills are hidden behind the T.N.T rocks too, like cryokinectic orb and enrage - or hidden behind level ups, like Locus of Control, which is especially fun to use alongside Enrage etc.
You're not doing anything wrong, except maybe not making use of bottlenecks or the Force Field ability as generously as you should. Asskickery powers will come with time!
Ok so its just a case of me getting brutalized by the general under rail early game experience. That I can deal with, also thank you for the guidance, can I get through the rocks with anything other then tnt, because bisson and the miners seem to think so. I tried to tk punch a rock, rock did not care.
Later on you can find a tool that will remove rocks one by one, but it's somewhat cost prohibitive to keep charged if you get it immediately upon opening the world, but it's more cost efficient than using and making T.N.T charges in my opinion. Without heavy spoilers of sorts, you'll find the tool in one of the places you can fast travel to via the metro.
Game is pretty rough, but only because you're in early game hell hobo mode. Once you get yourself some skill with your choice of weapon, an actual decent weapon, and a tactical vest, you'll become a little more tanky and your survival chances will go up quite a bit. Once you get a hang of crafting, you're survival chances will go up quite a lot, too. Especially if you make stuff like Infused Siphoner Leather Tabi Boots, etc.
When you exit the compound there is a small building with an old man / vendor inside. From him you go North (Upper Right zone transition). All 5 outposts are in that area beyond that zone transition.
After finishing Drill Parts, use Train and Boat to go between town, after that, press M to open map, so you knew rough place around.
As for dangerous place, west underpass (north of SGS, going down through ladder to subway where Blaine chilling out) is lair of Lurker, they consist of Assassin and Thief class, be very careful if you wear light armor.
South of Foundry is Ironheads lair (there's 6 tile of em), they're bunch of tanky macho guy, often wear metal armor, sledge, and AR. Very hard to deal with Light Weapon, but possible if you have Expose Weakness.
Any high-tech "Dungeon" / has bunch of spider web, makes sure to NEVER hit those spiders with electric weapon, including EMP.
Random Lunatics camp, evade it if you can. Consist of Psi users, snipers and grenadier(often used MK3 and above). If you have to fight them, use flashbang and kill one by one. They have high burst damage capability along with Psi' CC attacks, any armor might not suffice to tank their attacks.
Any dark cavern with Red Mushroom, it's a sign of Stalkers, either skip it, or make manual save before going through. The good tactics for stealth psi user /ranged weapon is to go to corner, surround yourself with bear trap, then throw grenade to attract them. Once they got trapped, throw molotov around you and kill them all. After you killed them, get out, make save, then throw grenade to check if there's some survives.
South of Camp Hathor, there's numerous Alpha Rathound and cluster of Traps, Motion-detector goggle + Stuffed Bat food is highly recommended
Northern-East of the map and other watery cavern usually has Goliath psi beetle, they have quite high mechanical DT and Pseudo-spatial Projection, do a hit-and-run around corner, kill the small psi beetle first, since they're easier to kill and reduced the "psi group buff" thingy. With high enough level, you might be able to 1shot Goliath with TK proxy + TK punch combo
