Metal Boots

Simple question... can they provide any significant protection? Most I've seen provide very little resistance and threshold, but I'm wondering if crafting makes much of a difference. I was thinking of tichrome or super steel striders, or reinforced if it adds much protection.

Crafting always makes a big difference when you're talking about gear. I grabbed some stuff laying around in player housing and threw together the best pair of boots I could, but you could do better, especially with some crafting feats. Metal boots use metal plates; I wonder if Armor Sloping would reduce the armor penalty for boots like it does for armor? Well, whatever. Here's an example of some boots made with no relevant crafting feats and components in the 120-150 range.
