Riot gear and Tactical vest too op?
With riot gear bonus against melee and bullet by 100% and Tactical vest bonus against bullet 200%, i cant bring myself use other kind of armor except when fighting bio/acid based enemy which i use CAU armor.
am i just missing something from metal armor which is considerably heavier and require super steel for it to be lighter enough but less mech resist
also for dodge+eva based armor which require me to spend eva ,taloring, and dodge altogether cause ishouldnt be worried for damage that doesnt even flinch me (200% mech resist against bullet for tac. vest yo)

p.s. i only complete the game on normal difficulty so maybe they deal much more damage on hard above ? maybe that time dodge+eva based armor better

It's pretty much good against bullet, while metal works against many things. Also, medium armor has much less Damage Resistance compared to metal, and the bullet bonus only affects Treshold. DR becomes main factor on late game / higher difficulty. With medium armor it's possible to use dodge/evasion, since they're not that heavy (at least without any additional parts)

Dodge/evasion is actually kinda worse on higher difficulty, because on hard+, enemies have additional bonus to their skills, which makes you need a lot more dodge to be effective. It's still doable if you max it with 8+ agility, nimble, and siphoner armor + tabi, although 40 dodge + Uncanny Dodge is mostly enough

Metal armour gets crazy if you go all out. Quad reinforced tungsten+reinforced tungsten boots has like 90% DR and 45 DT. Weak/medium attacks just bounce off, and even really strong ones still only do 10% damage at best. It's crazy.

for riot gear yea not by much but for tac vest?
200% bonus is like 60 DT only tungsten can beat it with lot more armor penalty which is worth it ?

It worth with certain build. I made a thread about AK tin can 95% armor penalty, it's doing too well for now

btw whats the deal with crab carapaces ?
you can craft riot gear with it being 10 kg and ~50% armor penalty.
but then you go tac vest... 20+ kg and 90% armor penalty.
are they not meant to be or something ? feels like game colculating stats somehow wrong.

There's still no Str requirement on a Psi Crab Tac Vest, so you're getting what's basically a ceramic plate that also gives + fire DR/DT, + electricity DR/DT, + psi regen, and higher +psi skill boosts than psi beetle. The *only* reason to use psi crab carapace is if you're playing psi, and since psi haste ignores armor penalty, you've got 30MP when you need it no matter your armor penalty.

I'm not totally sold on it, though I've used it a few times. The 10% psi cost reduction of psi beetle carapace is so much better than 2 points of psi regen that it nearly makes up for the other benefits of psi crab. But if you want to get your effective DT up over 100 against bullets, you certainly can with the crab. Coupled with an aluminized overcoat you can end up essentially immune to bullets and fire damage, and that's not shabby.

It has its uses, but it's not a slam dunk. If it gave just 5% psi cost reduction instead of 2 regen, it would be an easy pick over psi beetle but as it is, it's situational.

Tey're not too op. Tactical vest is just op and riot gear is balanced.
