Wyatt Pear - Any long term repercussions for killing him?
I know he has a sad story and all, but as far as I know he has no use in the long term game. He's not a merchant. Being practical and all, and playing on classical exp mode, he's worth a whopping 840 experience!

Killing him isn't a problem, thanks to bilocation and force field. Does he have any purpose later on in the game? The wiki doesn't say so. There is the possibility of him being in the expansion, but I am doubtful. It seems to me like he is just there for a challenge, and to net you a unique weapon. Plus, killing him in classical exp mode is the equivalent of doing a quest in oddity mode.

Well, in classic mode there's so much experience that you've no need to worry about getting every last bit - my last character was 100,000 experience over level cap before starting the conversation that begins the process of going to Deep Caverns. So while there's no harm in picking up loose xp, you won't need it.

He doesn't do anything important. There's a loose end that never gets wrapped up involving him, lore-wise, but it's no different if he's alive or dead.
Ok. Thanks! I've still got around 15 levels to go before reaching the cap, so I'm still exp hungry. I've rushed to Core City and it's helping a lot. I'll probably go to the Chort headquarters soon because it seems like they have the best components for making a good energy shield.

The Institute is a very good place for getting shield components, but if you progress through the main plotline, you'll get an option to join up with one of the three powerful families that controls Core City - if you go with CoreTech, you'll get access to a vendor that has equally excellent energy weapon + shield components. Also, depending on your choices in Junkyard and other areas of Lower UnderRail, you might get access to another group with the occasional good bit of tech.

Some of the quests you'll get from the Institute might be a little tough if you're only level 12-15 - of course play how you enjoy, but if you start to have some trouble, head back to Lower UnderRail and go explore. There's a lot of extra stuff available if you're willing to wander off the beaten path.

Don't touch the old man, if your main weapon isn't a pistol.
He already suffered enough.
I kinda hate exploring some of lower underrail, thanks to those pesky crawlers. I hate those things! It's not so bad when you know they're around because you can locate them with some AoE psionic spells. Hah!

Oh, there's a free space there but I can't put a forcefield wall there?
How about a fireball?! :D

Speaking of which, is there a good detection option for characters with low perception? I'm thinking the night vision goggles might be a good option, although it sadly can't be worn with a psionics hat.

The only option is motion detection goggles. And feat Paranoid.

Also, about WP - wiki specifically doesn't tell too much about some characters, for example there is nothing about Mordre.

If you're playing a psi character, then pick up Locus of Control at level 14. Then, when the crawlers sneak up and hit you (which will happen sometimes, even with a high detection) it's not a problem because you can break the stun. Crawlers are pretty weak so they only really survive one or two hits at most. They're no trouble once you've got LoC.
I started to kill Mordre too but found out that he is in a future quest, and also allied with the SGS faction (which doesn't make any sense IMO since he seems like a loner), which could make them all hostile if you kill him.

Thanks for the tips about the crawlers. I'll think about taking LoC if the motion detection goggles don't work out. My character is specializing more in telekinetics, so I'm a bit stingy about taking some of the other specialized psionics perks (although I do use cold, fire, and thought control spells as the situation calls for it).

Playing a psionic character is a lot of fun and allows a lot of freedom because you don't really need anything. Your brain alone is a deadly weapon. :D
So frequently when I dump loot I end up with 15 or less weight. I may start bumping up mechanic and chemist so I can make grenades.

One of my biggest disappointments is the lack of an outfit for psionic characters. Sure you can make riot armor or tactical vest with the psionic beetle carapace, but they're so heavy! The rathound king outfit seems like the best outfit in the game. I wish you could infuse it with a psi beetle carpace. :D

Yeah, playing psi also is an option if you get tired from inventory micromanagement from previous runs.
Actually I was wrong about the lack of a psionics outfit. Tchortist group in Core City? RIP
Nice exp too. :D

The Tchortist Noble robe is very nice, but the bonus isn't as significant as you'll get from a psi beetle carapace. If you've got the crafting, you may want to save up for an end-game suit. Super steel sheet, psi beetle carapace, regenerative vest, and whatever cloth suits your playstyle best. Well worth it for almost every psi-primary build. The difference in ease of getting around in Deep Caverns alone made the investment worthwhile, for me.
Thanks. I have already started into crafting, simply because of electronics & biology for the psi hats, and chemistry with a bit of mechanical & tailoring for grenades & mines. I think I have most skills (psionics aside) high enough that I could do that.

My strength is only 3, so I'm going to assume that a tactical vest would be the only option here.

Right. You can still get good armor and bonuses out of a tac vest. This one I'm using isn't the best possible, but it's still pretty good - you can make better if you're lucky or patient with gathering mats, and it's a very helpful armor for a psi character: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1105353267
I wound up making this: http://i.imgur.com/DfUsCOE.png
I had difficulty finding a good regenerative vest. They all seem to be 89 or less quality. Not sure what's up with that. I decided to settle for a psi beetle carpace with a quality of 41. For the ballistic panel I used a super steel sheet. For the cloth.. I'm not really sure what to use so I used a blast cloth. Would aluminized cloth be better?

I also had enough super steel to infuse hopper leather for leather armor, just for the speed for traveling. I made ancient rathound tabi boots as well, but I'm thinking of reloading and using siphoner leather instead (for the "freedom of movement" trait it gives).

Depends on playstyle. I love to throw around incendiary grenades and it's very nice having immunity to burning and solid fire resist, so I can safely run through the flames. Sure, there's the avatar of fire psi ability and I have made good of that as well, but there are a lot of fights where aluminized cloth is handy, and a few fights where it's extremely useful. Personally I don't much care for blast cloth. I'd rather use kevlar, since bullets damage my characters very often, and explosions only very rarely.
