I remember having plenty of fun with the original Bridge Builder, probably in 2000 or 2001, although it was extremely basic compared to modern variations. I don't think that's still available, but Pontifex is. The sequel "Pontifex II" was renamed "Bridge Construction Set", and there was also "Bridge It". The list of sequels is from the German Wikipedia, which also claims that all these games have free demo versions. Only "Bridge It +" is on Steam, along with its demo.
It has only 38 levels, starting with extremely simple ones. But reportedly the later ones are insane, e.g. one in which the bridge can only connect on one side.
