Character moves by itself
I've e-mailed support, but while I wait for a reply; has anyone else run across the problem where they're unable to control the character? Each game I've started the character just legs it to towards the lower left of the screen without me having any say in the matter. I've tried unplugging various controllers, including my Xbox 360 pad (which doesn't seem to work either) and changing compatibility settings/running as an administrator. But nothing seems to work.

I've also got a problem with the mouse cursor disappearing within fractions of a second when the mouse is no longer in motion. I suspect this will make aiming quite difficult, but in light of the above it's of a lesser concern at the moment.

Any suggestions (other than requesting a refund)?

I have these same issues, except the character runs UP and to the left. I can exert a small amout of control over his movements, but I can't get him to stop running that direction. Mouse cursor is the same thing though.

Same here. Toon just does his own thing for some reason. Funny thing is, the game was working perfect for about 1/2 hr than all of a sudden, it started doing weird things.
It actually started when I got to the village to fill the gas can.

Got the same problem. Unplugged my G13 and my Controller....didnt fix it. Everytime i go to controlls it switched back to Controller instead of Keyboard+Mouse.

Edit: Problem solved please look my post under Same here, as soon as the game goes to menu, it shows me 2 mouse pointers (one Microsoft mouse pointer and one of the game's mouse pointer) as also when my character started at the shore, she started run by herself to the left screen without me controlling her with the "WSDA".

I also email them these 2 bugs so let us be a little patience until they fix it. These types of bugs, usualy do happen with Early games ^_^

Edit: Okay everyone it seems that the game it is fixed. Please look my post under I think that those who have Win 64bit should go to the "How to Survive" files and look for the "Dx-64" (or how it is named, I forgot) and click it to load. Then when you click to play the game, untick the "VSych" that pop up on the window together with the screen resolution (only if you have tick it before). Then when you start the game, you will see that the character moves fine and the mouse works excellent.

I also have the issue where selecting KnM for controls doesn't seem to stick. It always reverts to Pad. I've also noticed that when I move over a useable item (a 'healing plant') the options to collect it flashed very rapidly between the Pad and keyboard option ( 'F' and the 'A Button' icon). It seems that the game is detecting a ghost pad or something. I'm sure it will get sorted out eventually, but game breaking bugs are always frustrating.

@Astrea: Could you provide the actual name of the file you are talking about please? I don't find anything named "Dx-64" or close to it.

Sorry HolyWombat for the delay I was in the game. Okay, here it is and yup I made a mistake with the file name above so ignore the above and here is the "Application":

Click to "How to Survive" file in your Steam folder,
then click at the file "_CommonRedist",
then click "vcredist",
then "2008",
and then "vcredist_x64.exe" (Application)

When you do that and you click "Play", the window with the screen resolution and VSych will pop up, just choose what screen resolution you want and leave the VSych (or how it is called) box unticked (empty). Then just start a new game and you are good to go.

Afraid all that did was reinstall the VC++ files. No change in the game's playability.

I've had this problem in many games over the years with my saitek eclipse kb.

The solution for me, every single time, is as follows (copied from my other thread):

Just incase anyone else is having this problem, the device to disable is named 'Saitek Gamers keyboard hotkeys (HID)', it's the second one in the list and has a hardwareID of VID_06A3&PID_8000&Rev_0120&MI_01_Col02.

I'm guessing you'll just need to find the right HID device for your keyboard.

Sorry that it didn't work :/ I was hope that it could help out.

One last thing, try to change the Keyboard options in the game and save them (but do keep the "WASD") and then try and restart a new game, maybe that will help or try what Squirt185 said above.

But if you have a little patience, you can also wait until "505 Games" fix the problem.

But I do hope that you will manage somehow to fix the problem soon ^_^
