With explosives, Kovac will teach you about this later in the story. It's setup to prevent you from going to certain places before the story necessitates it. Once you get to this point youll be able to throw explosive bottles and make explosive arrows, both of which will destroy the barricades and sheds.

And I recommend using explosive arrows over explosive bottles because you can make 10 arrows out of 1 molotov cocktails, which mean you can break 10 barricades/doors instead of 1. But there are some barricade that you might need to use explosive bottle because of how the arrows in the game flies (arrow will flies over some barricades, though on some you can aim at the wall nearby and the blast radius will catch the barricade and blow it away).

You can't make them until a certain point of the game, it's much later when you have to find a pilot for the plane and you go ask Kovac for help, he teaches you how to make them then.

But eventually it's just Molotov + Fertalizer, though you'd best combine those with Arrows cause you get 10 explosive arrows out of 1 Explosive Bottle and that means you could carry 100 of these instead of 3 Explosive Bottles which is the item's max.
