how to kill a giant zombie?

I ran until I got to an NPC and made the chase music go away. That's after it killed me thrice.
It has a health bar of course but I was still using the basic gun when I encountered it.

I think "Explosive Arrows" are the best, but you'll only get them a bit far in the game (and they require a skill). Incendiary Arrows with Feathers[howtosurvive.gamepedia.com] are a good choice too (but they'll require a skill too), so i spent most of the time killing them with a Bow (upgraded to Wooden Long Bow Pulley) + Classic Arrows with Feathers [howtosurvive.gamepedia.com] and the Twin/Triple Stick Cutting Boomerang (when i crafted one).

I ran around plinking at it until I killed it. (After many deaths). Later ,as mentioned in the above post, explosive arrows work pretty good. Still have to do a lot of running around and such while shooting.

Yes, explosive arrows are the best way, i think.

Explosive arrow are the best. I also used flamearrows, but that requires a lot of shooting and dodging.

I just killed it right off with feathered arrows. nothing other then that.
Try and get it at extreme range.

if your talking about the big sucker when you go back to the first island.. i got hijm to chase me i sprinted to the safe house and i could shoot him through the door when he tried to reach in for me.
