"Too many items" bug is giving me problems.

I crafted a fishing pole a while back in the game and apparently dropped it for some reason, probalby thinking "oh it's made of 2 fairly common items i'll make it again if i ever need it." Well, now I need it for a monkey quest and I'm not allowed to craft one. It just says "too many items," I'm guessing because I've already made one and the game won't let me make another because it's "unique" or something? I've been running all over the islands looking for where I dropped it but I simply can't find it. Frustrating.

If your inventory is absolutely full and crafting will create an additional item you can't do it. So, for instance, if you have a full inventory with two reels and two flexible sticks and two haradware you can not craft a fishing rod. Crafting would create an additional item without freeing a slot. You would need to drop something creating a free slot then you could craft.

No it's not that my inventory is full, of course I tried dropping a lot of stuff first! I think the game thinks the fishing pole is a "unique" item or something. It's not saying "inventory full" anyways, it's saying "too many items" which is why I'm guessing the game is telling me I have too many instances of that item. It is most definitely not in my inventory. Very weird.

Same here, can't make a gun. Plenty of space, even dropped a ton of stuff and tried.

So here we are nearly a year later and we're still experiencing this issue?

I just picked up this game recently and gave it a spin, and am having the same described issue with the same recipe: the fishing pole. I have multiple spots open, but when I go to craft it, it says "Too many items" and fails to craft.

Is the developer not interested in supporting the game and fixing issues? What gives, here?

It's not a bug. You cannot have more than one unique item. Pistols are unique item.

I didn't say anything about a pistol. I was trying to create a fishing pole.

I narrowed the bug down to this though: it's giving me this error incorrectly when it should be telling me that the two items don't combine. I was trying to combine a hook with line, not hook with reel. Soon as I did it in a different order, it worked.

sometime ever if you drop 10 item , the game will keep saying that , infact i think you cant have 2 time some item...
