Also, as far as clearing bunkers, I tend to open the door and run a bit back to where I have already been, the horde will follow you from the sound of the bunker, but it gives me a chance to be setup to meet the attack on a prime defense and killing them off that way.
Yeah, you should do an aimed shot at head, it knocks off helmet, then aim at head again.
On the door, while you can close it from inside the safehouse, I don't think it's visually easy enough to see per se. I think you can sort of highlight the closed door with your mouse and then click it to close, something like that. :)
Sometimes it's more fun when I screw up -- I've dropped molotov cocktails on top of my own character by mistake, or I've been chainsawing the zombies that sneak into the back and realize too late I'm chainsawing an exploding zombie. :D
