Infinite Credits Mode?
By any chance there would be an infinite credits mode? My friend and I would love to just play the game and have a good time with it without worrying about running out of credits. I know, the 20 credits is kind of good enough but we always get stuck at the 4th mission if we're only running on 20 credits. Any chance that there's a command that allows infinite credits?

The game is limited to 20 credits. You can start from any Mission you have reached though.

That is true but I was just asking if it were possible to get it to be unlimited or 99 at least.

I've actually foudn ways to do it third party-wise. Just thinking more of a legit option to do it. Also ended up reading a thread on the Steam boards about how people say "get good" to those who need infinite credits while looking for ways to do so lol

Really twenty credits should be more than enough to beat this game, considering that it is actually possible to beat this game without getting hit even once.

As per mentioned, I do see that it is possible to beat this game with 20 credits but it's for the more casual players who aren't able to do so. Also, the rebuttal of "Get good!" won't do any good if the casual player doesn't even own the game and has to go to my place just to play it.

Again, I'm just wondering if there was a method to actually make the credits infinite.

Maybe he should buy it and get good?

The enjoyment is in the prospect of failure. Having a vulnerability heightens the experience. Being able to just slog it out and die over and over and over without actual consequence will bore.

Seriously, if you need infinite credits, this really isn't a game for you. You'd be better suited finding something different, probably.

A less condescending option would be to get the Metal Slug Anthology on PS2, it has Metal Slugs 1-6+X with infinite lives, if that option is open to you.

Best line I've read today. I believe your point is right but it can't be applied for everyone. As for me, I'd go with it and actually get good. To some, they don't have the patience to do so as they are "casual" gamers. They're the type who buttong mash in the arcades and I'd be happy enough to oblige to thier need for a co-op fun. I mean like it's hilarious sometimes to just watch them die at the most stupid things because they actually try to dodge the bullets.

Thanks, this would be an option for my friend.

In my experience infinite credits are sort of a double edged sword. On one hand, yes you get to see all the game has to offer, but you never have the pressure to get very good at it, so the experience overall is less satisfying.

I've played this game with infinite credits, probably from the PSX anthology....it kind of takes some of the fun out of it. But I can understand wanting to just goof around and have fun. I'd just play this version and set realistic goals, like beat each mission with your 20 continues.

Having twenty credits is equivalent to having 5 dollars worth of quarters in the arcades. ( Each credit is worth a quarter. Since there are four quarters/credits per dollar, twenty credits divided by 4 credits per dollar is 5 dollars worth of credits). That is MORE than enough to beat this game. Having infinite credits is like having infinite quarters in the arcades, which doesn't make sense.

some people want to play with their girlfriends and girlfriends arent exactly going to "git good" so that line is as tired as a hybernating bear. besides, the psp version has infinite credits. who would be hurt by that option on the steam version?

Glad to see people are still sharing their opinion about this here and I understand that back then we used to have to buy these credits. But the person above this reply gets it. If it's for the purpose of spending time with your loved ones then I'm sure infinite credits will help.

Btw if there were an infinite credits mode, it would allow for the creation of a new achievement which is to beat the game with the default 20 credits or adding a more hardcore one which is beating the game with a single credit. I don't know, it may be just me but being able to adjust the amount of credits on these classic arcade games may give motivation for achievement hunters.
