Difficulty Settings
What do the difficulty settings affect exactly? More enemies? Less bullets?

which difficulty level is the closest to what it was in the arcade version?

Arcade version has a difficulty slider too, so it depends on the guy running the cabinet. But medium most likely.

Most of the arcade cabinets ran on difficulty 4. From what I hear, medium is difficulty 3 and hard is 5 or so. Citation needed though.

Arcade cabinets have arcade sticks and consistent frame rates, though. Playing with a Xb360 Dpad and speeding up/slowing down constantly is like cranking the difficulty up a notch or two. Maybe I should wear mittens and a blindfold for ultimate challenge mode.

The difficulties affect bullet speed and enemy resilience I believe. In some cases, more bullets (e.g. final boss bubbles flying up)
Less ammo from upgrades (citation needed)
Less bombs (citation needed)
More health on enemies
Exponentially more health on bosses
More mass-projectiles from bosses, like extra rockets or debris
Enemy shot speed

Ive been playing it on very hard, and the only difference I notice from the version I played on the og xbox is more health on bosses. Maybe a little more health on normal enemies. Seems to be same amount of bombs and ammo. Not sure though. Projectile speeds seem exactly the same though.

To me it feels like ammo is always in short supply. If I'm running around with the pistol on very hard, I'm pretty much going to keep dying till a credit is consumed. It bounces off other responses above about enemy health probably. It also feels like the enemies are 'smarter' in that they will change their attack pattern slightly so their projectiles spread more as a team, but maybe that's just me getting totally boxed in by circumstance all the time.

Enemies felt very meaty to me on very hard.

Do you get less points in easy mode? I played coop with a friend and somehow only got the 100k points achievement even though I'm sure I had 500k+ while playing. So I was thinking: Can I replay the game solo on easy and still get enough points to unlock the 200k and 500k achievements?

You get bigger score on harder difficulties as the enemies can take more hits before dying.

That 360 d-pad causes me so many frustrations in games. I hate the thing.
I think I'll see if this game will accept x360ce.
