METAL SLUG 3

Not worth it!
Who doesn't like Metal Slug? I am sure everyone has tried Metal Slug in the arcade before.

But the fact that for $8 you only get Metal Slug 3. Seriously?

1 coin = 50cents
$8 = 16 coins

How many times are you going to play this game?

As much as I loved Metal Slug, it is the kind of game that you only play through once with a friend or stranger and be done with it.

And now, only Metal Slug 3. I don't see how long we will be playing this. This game will probably have around 1k - 2k players at release. And drop to the low hundreds after the first week.

Soon after, no one will be playing and you can't even find another person to play online co-op because everyone is already done with the game within 1 - 2 hours.

For $8, at least include ALL THE METAL SLUG so people will have some kind of variety and incentive to keep playing different levels so they never get bored.

From your dollar logic, i'll have made back my investment several-fold when I finally beat it.
I never played this game before.

I'm pretty sure there will always be people playing this for years to come.

If I managed to play MS3 for more than a decade and up to now, then it would still be worth buying it again for this tiny price.

It's just one of those games you play to just essentially kill things and make things explode, simple as that, instant enjoyment.

Besides the drop in population happens with a good majority of games unless they're free or just popular.

Also it costs a whopping $2 per credit to play in Australia in the arcades because everything is usually more expensive here.

If it was Metal Slug 4 people'd play it all day ever day.... maybe. >_> Not really. But still people play these games for years on all kinds of consoles, it's not hard to believe this would be the same thing. If it dies, it dies. Sure. But $8 is not a big kick in the balls for me, pocket change.
I'm going to play it as long as it takes to get trough without using any continues. I owned this for original xbox and I was quite far from that.

I actually have this on my vintage NEO-GEO cabinet. It usually takes me 14-22 credits to clear it-- because I suck horribly at some of the boss fights --and I don't believe in Freeplay. That's half the price of the game right there at 1:1 coin settings.

If you think you can just drop this game after completing it once, you must not be much of a completionist. Because of the branching paths, you can't even see the whole thing on one playthrough. It's been a favorite of mine for years now, and I still haven't found all the secrets. The game still has plenty of fans who enjoy playing it after 14 years, so maybe you've misjudged something.

Also, please refer to the other two hundred 'y no anthology' threads.
When I was a student, I in the game of this series USES about 4000 game COINS, our game currency here is very cheap, but if use your algorithm, then I has invested about $2000 in this series, oh, my god, hope my mother don't hit me. haha~

Many.

It's an arcade game, not a RPG.

I don't know about you but even I beat an arcade game I'm still gonna play more than 16 times

I'm not like a hardcore Metal Slug or SNK fan but by just looking at the gameplay, I can see how the game has a lot of replayablity. People are going to play this game more than just one playthrough. Not to mention you have people that will try to beat the game on 1 credit, and the like. I can't wait to play this game on my new arcade stick. So do I think this game is worth it? Hell yeah!

What's that? Metal Slug came out in 1996 and there are people who played it and loved it so much they spent ridiculous amounts of money on the arcade just to play!?

Shut your mouth and don't buy it then. $8 is chump change due to the fact I can now play from my own machine with others on their own machines as well.

That's all, thanks!

Damn right! I don't see what the problem is. If you go out to eat, you can't even get a meal of REAL FOOD for that much, you can barely get lunch at McD's! Hell, the sale price would barely get you a cup of coffee some places.

If eight bucks is way too much to pay for a game as enjoyable as this, you're such a tightass that when you fart only dogs can hear it.

I agree and I laugh at your glorious ending.

I bought it at 6$ and the fact that I can play online with randoms and friends, plus me owning a nice classic which ill be able to replay whenever I want and how many times I want, I am losing a lot less cash then I would at the arcade following your logic.

These games are quarter munchers. Unless you've gotten extremely good at the game through sheer practice you're not gonna beat it in 16 credits worth of lives in your first try. Or your second, or third, or fourth, or..

And if you are that good, then you'll most likely play it enough times to make your money back.
