I don't know how to fix it...
Since text looks so small my DPI settings located in display settings in Windows 10 was set to increase icons and text to double the size at 200%. This was set by Window 10 as my recommended setting.
I had experienced a zooming of my game and couldn't access options or anything. It was so large that I had to exit the game. I then remembered that my DPI settings were double to make text and icons on windows larger. Once I went in and put my DPI at 100% I went back into the game and was able to see my game without it being zoomed out. I was then able to use my XBox One controller to adjust my settings and to save it.
The only troublesome issue is that any time I want to play any SNK Neo Geo game by DotEmu here on Steam I have to manually change my DPI settings back to 100% each time I play them. Going back and forth between 200% and 100% DPI is a pain, but it's a price I'm willing to pay to have access to all these Neo Geo games on Steam.
I think I once did this to fix it so you don't need to change the windows main option each time. This may work if I remembered it correctly.
Right click on the game exe and go to properties. In this case, it would be mslug3.exe.
Go to the Compatibility Tab.
Near the bottom is the 'Change High DPI Settings' button. Click on this.
Near the bottom is ''override High DPI scaling Behaviour' check box. Tick this.
Hopefully that stops the scaling being applied within the game, but leaves the normal Windows setting for scaling that you want normally.
You mess with the file called "UserDefault.xml", here's how to:
The file is in "C:\Users\ [your usename] \AppData\Local\mslug[1, 2, X, 3]"
Tip: Other shorter way to find the folder is searching "%appdata%" and the windows search will leave you close, go up one folder and you'll be at AppData.
Then, with notepad or a text editor open UserDefault.xml, on top there are two resolution default fields and at the bottom are another two that supposedly are the ones that the player set inside the game. Change them (all 4) as you like.
Tip 2: If you were having problems with fullscreen, you can activate it here. After you made your change in resolution, there's a fullscreen field in that same .xml file; change it from "false" to "true".
SAVE the file and launch the game, it should work with the settings you input.
Tip 3: Now you're also able to change the settings from inside the game too.
Sorry if it's overly detailed, but hope that this can help others
