Finally understanding the one dice
Getting to the point where I can break the run reliably and it's super fun. I used to have a lot of trouble with sage but now it's enjoyable to figure out how to use the mechanic as a resource to put my deck in a good position and do some crazy stuff. I can see how it would become a grind though with usually the same cards being necessary to be successful reliably and continuing on with ascensions. That's probably the only crux of this game is there are really only so many ways to think outside of the box for a payoff unless you'd like to choose more chaos or black cards. Really enjoying it nonetheless.

I had the same revelation!

The biggest mistake new players (including myself) make is thinking the one die is only useful for nuking enemy health. At first i didn't get why i would bother upgrading the one die, now i upgrade to the d20 pretty much every run.

Last couple runs I've had a lot of fun leveraging it outside of combat, particularly in Events and the Shop. Reducing an item or increasing my gold are huge, as is making the Checks for Events tiny.

I don't increase my Die much at least while I'm playing Barbarian, because negating Injury in the early and midgame is too important.

Yeah that's what I was getting at. You can kinda faceroll barb with power and draw/haste but the game space opens up more and becomes a lot of fun when you max the one die and go at it with other classes and just break the run, that seems to be the spirit of the game.
