Confused about unlocking new skins/costumes

Hi,

several sources on the internet claim that the alternative skins for the characters are unlocked once every level in the game has been finished with a single character.

This can't be true, since I just finished the game yesterday with 1 character and already had 2 alternative costumes before.

How does it work ? :)

Alternate skins = finish just a few levels with that character (I think just 4 or 5, forget the exact number)
Metallic skins = finish all levels with that character
Peanut's unicorn hat = complete Assault Android Awesome (at least one S+ on all 25 levels with any android)

Is there a way to tell which levels I finished with what android ?

if you walk on a level field you get an overview with which android you got which ranking. Every android not listed you didn't completed the level with it yet.
